The sticky thing is really frustrating me. I used to get a stick about 95% of the time I threw a sticky or spiker grenade. Now they only stick about 30% of the time and when they do stick they frequently don't kill the opponent.
Something is seriously glitched about the melee system. I was in a match where I was trading blows with another guy. After emptying our assault rifles into each other I meleed him 4 times and he hit me 3 times and neither of us died. We both ended up getting killed by gunfire.
Shotgun behavior has been dramatically affected. Shooting someone point blank with a shotgun is apparently no longer a guaranteed kill. Other behaviors have gotten worse. For instance, if a shotgun wielder is about to die and receives a melee attack, firing at and hitting the attacker would prevent him from dying. Now apparently it doesn't matter who he shoots as long as he kills someone within a few frames of receiving a melee blow he survives the attack.
Overshield behavior has changed. Formerly, when you collected an overshield you were invincible until the meter was full and being shot briefly halted the shield charge. So as long as you were taking damage continuously, overshield=invincibility. This is no longer the case. In fact, collecting an overshield while under fire seems to have no effect at all. I collected an overshield while under fire today and after collecting the overshield, 2 shots from a BR killed me. The overshield was still charging on screen when I died.
Melee blows (without firing a weapon) dealt to a person with full shields and health (face to face) are frequently counted as assassinations. I've been using this glitch to kill people that run around with the shotgun. I just run up to them without firing and melee and it gives me an assassination. The shotgun doesn't even deal damage. I've witnessed this as the shotgun user and as the assassinator. In one case, both the shotgunner and the assassinator were on my xbox. They were definitely facing each other when the attack ensued. The shotgun fired centered on the other person, yet melee attack resulted in an assassination.
I've been killed once or twice a match since the patch came out by someone connecting with a melee without them firing a single shot
Sniper headshots have been made "harder". By "harder" I mean you can aim directly at a person's head, such that the dot appears in the reticule and pull the trigger and they will survive one, sometimes 2 hits to the head. Just today I played in a game where I shot someone in the head with the sniper rifle 5 times in a row and he never died. In the replay you can clearly see his head is targeted in every shot. Every shot connected and caused the player apparent harm (shields flashed on impact).
Besides all the random ridiculousness caused by lag and people fiddling with their connections during the game, the matchmaking keeps getting worse. My dad is a gunnery sergeant, with VERY little gameplay experienced, and in most of the matches he plays in, he's matched against generals, brigadiers and the like. I'm not ranked quite that low, but I'm continually matched with people FAR better than I am in social playlists. It's gotten to the point where I'll switch to ranked playlists for an EASIER game.
Prior to the release of this patch I had been playing on as a guest of a friend ( a colonel) and have been an excellent player. I started playing on my name again because I didn't like that I wasn't getting the various awards (including an invincible, perfection, killpocalypse and an extermination). As soon as the patch comes out, all of the sudden I can't kill ANYBODY. Not even the n00bs. For the first few matches it seemed like most players were mostly impervious to ONLY MY bullets. You can call it network issues or lag, but the game has gotten far less fun when I have to shoot someone with EVERY bullet in my gun and hit them with grenades and melee blows before they die, while I'm dying before I finish spawning several times a match.
The online playability of this game has been dropping like a brick since December and since the release of the patch I've finally started contemplating selling Halo 3.
