Sometimes when I look at the moon at night, my mind embraces the thought of a love so vivid and true that I almost believe it is real. Then, due to my delusions, I am forced back into reality and begin to indulge myself in real life vices such as chocolates and German board games to get that once natural high.

Can't we all be friends and have parties and pie and play Halo and stuff.

I though we did that already.
Oh wait, you want us to include other people into the mix to and spread the fun.

There is a universe beyond Zag's Parties?! <gasp!>

If you ask me (and nobody did... =[), threads like these are exactly what make BNet a great community. All the blither, and all the blather aside, we all just come on BNet to give our say, discuss things, and have a good time.

All was shattered, and all but memory lost, and one memory above all others, of him who brought the Shadow and the Breaking of the World. And him they named Dragon.

I like how things changed in this thread after Achronos posted. That "HAY IM DA FIRST MEMBER HERE LISTEN TO ME YOUNGLINGS" seems to work out quite allright.

This thread has some good points...

"I have no words that would do justice to the atrocities you commit to the English language, as well as your continued assaults on the concepts of basic literacy and logical reasoning."

Nah, it turned the corner when we all started making fun of stosh, and, by extension, his mom.

In all seriousness, though, he was right when he posted earlier in the thread, so technically, blame stosh for the discussion ending.

So if you gave him User ID# 1 and gold text he would've stopped the discussion long ago!
I also find it a bit weird that someone is actually blaming stosh for good stuff happening.

De-rail the topic again and you're taking a week off, Achronos.

I know Shai is sitting here a little aggrivated that his argument won't be resolved... but it is ok, the last week in the community has been pretty hectic. If anything I think it will solidify peoples positions in the community.
Or where they think they belong, anyway.

Asks permission to derail topic one last time.

You can ban achronos? Funny thing is, he chose you to moderate, however if you betray achronos, he merely will hold X to boot you from Bnet XD

Edit: On topic....just in case... theres not much left to say. Ignoring the bad can work but il have to agree bungie should do something outragous to get rid of the bad users leaving only the bungie fans behind

Well I figure there should be at least one thread open for discussion about the current situation, and this may as well be it.

Good post.

Left open because it's MATURE and LOGICAL

SPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!

To answer your question Shai, I do actually understand what they were doing and why they were doing it. A portion of my question was rhetorical, and a portion was made in the hopes that my assumptions are totally wrong. Apparently they were not, but that whole issue has been thoroughly pounded into the ground, and its rather pointless to continue debating it.

Abusing members is never acceptable. We all agree to that. There is never an acceptable reason to abuse a member by extension. Regardless how any any of us feel about it, the people who run the site don't want it. Ego, it won't happen (well, without some repercussions).

Rather than that specific incident, let's address your primary point. Some members thought that there was a problem, so that decided to do something about it. While I don't usually have any problems with pro-activity, they need to be tactful at the very least. I personally don't see a problem with someone posting strange things in order to help people. Hypothetically, say someone was posting in this forums solely because they think it will help them be asked to moderate the forums. If they're forum copping abusively, they are clearly a problem. Simply reporting them or PMing a mod and asking them to take a loot at someone will easily solve this.

If you're right about most of the users who interact with this particular forum, most of them are looking to become mods, but they are not usually abusive. They are actually helpful. What's wrong with that? They are following the rules, and are being nice to people. So what if they want to be a moderator? Anyone who knows how the ninjas think will know that they will never be asked to moderate if they're transparently trying to become one. So what are they doing? Being nice and helpful. Perhaps they're doing more than that in their mind, but that's clearly of little consequence.

I only see one problem with the above scenario. Its the potential for people to lash out at someone they don't like because the helpful person annoys them in some way. Well, if that's a problem, I think it can also be easily dealt with, as we know it has been dealt with .

In all reality, none of this matters. The whole issue is based on the axiom that a security setting entitled "forum ninja" is worth a damn. Its not. That's why its a volunteer job. People may convince themselves that its worth something, but why would we care what delusional people think? Let them think what they want to think. It won't hurt anything. Our only real objective should be improving, or what I think is a better pragmatic description interacting with the community. Simply come here, post your thoughts (if they're within the parameters of the rules) and enjoy being here. Do that, and we're all in good shape.

So, the consensus is now that stosh and his mom is awesome, and we should make fun of them? You know how I feel about abusing members on this site.

Though stosh totally deserves it. Look at his ego. It totally needs to be smashed into the trash can. And look at his mom. She's so hawt, how could one not want to delve into her warm, womany bits? I say we start a petition. A petition to make stosh's mom available for any and all of our needs, at any and all times. I think we should start with a petition to the UN. Anyone know how those things work?

-edit-

"Pro-active action" sounded stupid.

It IS as bad as you think and they ARE out to get you.

I truly don;t think it would be possible to get this thread back on track. Moms ➜ implosions ➜ Moms just doesn't work (Or at least I hope so).

I'm a serious dude, so what?

I'll sign your petition evilcam.

And even though she spawned stosh, I'm sure with proper protective procedures we should be fine. I'm just afraid that all the combined users of Bungie.net wouldn't be able to satisfy her lust.

Well, Cam, for a UN petition, first you need a plurality in the upper house of the Queen's most vaunted parliament, and then a rider needs to be passed b th em majority, though this can be bypassed if her majesty's royal governor...
