Subject: The Official "Halo 3 PC" suggestions thread. -FINAL UPDATE-

URGENT UPDATE: I am going to a country where I will have absolutely zero access to bungie.net for a year or longer. See thread for reference

For this reason, I have placed Bapa in charge of the new thread, and I will be killing this one momentarily. Bapabooiee is now in charge of maintaining our hopes for a Halo 3 community on the Windows-based PC.

Subject: The Official Halo 3 Vista suggestions thread.

1. I know you all want this. Of course you do, a perfect port.
2. You could add a PC interface while keeping the 360 one. Halo 2 Vistas interface made a lot of people angry. (Just a wonder, I know some people might say no.)
3. Read post above.
4. Keep it well maintained and don't post pranks into the game. ( Remember the mooning....)
5. If you're going to do things like tray and play, do it right!
6. Make it run on people with fairly medium computers. Halo 2 Vista took way too much, for, well nothing really..
7. Make use of time itself. Halo 2 Vista was announced a year before it was released. And we got fairly toned up graphics, and only half of what it was supposed to be, the H2EK.
I know some ideas could be useless, but it might make the game itself more fun. And isn't it a little early?

At the VERY least, free online play. I hate the LIVE gold -blam!-. With silver, you should be able to host and join custom parties/servers and matchmaking. It should also include a simple, yet advanced map creator

Hello! Star Wars FTW. Also, join the MAW group. Please?

Rcon, the ability to vote kick/ban, a server filter, some kind of anti cheat device (a la punkbuster or Valve Anti-Cheat), and if you are going to make us pay for anything, the only thing I would pay for would be cross platform play. everything else had best damned be free, I've already payed for the bloody game.

Wi wi wi.

As for my two cents, what really is going to make or break this game is the H3EK. If it's like H2v's, the game is an automatic phail. If it's like Halo CE's, then the game is an automatic win.

h3 will not be on vista. it will be sold on the new pc made. ya and expect it to drop to like 10 poeple online. halo 1 1000-2500 people, h2v 60-100, halo 3... 2-15 ? it will come out in 2010-2012 and it'll just be too old...

It'll be a bit more than that my friend. It all depends on how the H3EK is. Like I said.

Most of the PC issues posted here are the result of PEBKAC.

Needs to be a DX9 mode for those still using the GeForce 7900 or Radeon X1950.

Also more graphical options. Halo 2 had almost nothing for graphics settings. Some people need to turn shadows off.

(At madkiller because I forgot to press quote..) Doubt that it won't be on Vista, have you forgotten that Vista is brand new? They'll probably wait a couple years, two through six.

hmmf by that time id be digging into Tiberium, even if its from EA, cant deny they actually domake a good one once in a while....
As for the time needed to develop the bloody thing there would be some more kick ass FPS out so like hell im going to buy it unless it is REALLY good

I don't care if they put Punk Buster in, as long there's something.

Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

My suggestion is as follows:

DON'T SCREW IT UP!

I'll be happy as long as it's developed my an actual studio, not a small team of cubicle-monkeys in some office building.

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

My suggestion is to save themselves the embarrassment and don't port it to the PC.

My suggestion is that people don't suggest that.

Who knows, it might be good. 1/2 of the Halo ports have been good, so we have a 50/50 chance...right?

Darkness is Light

Light is darkness

The same but apart

it must be free to play online. Come with a map editor, and 4 never before seen maps. It must have the same interface as XBL and let you make completely custom maps, not just forged maps.

Frog Blast the Vent Core!

XBL and free to play will not work in the sense that we want. We either pretty much have one or the other...

Both of em sucked bro. Does that mean I don't love Halo 1? no. But it's a terrible port (as Staticx points out often to justify the pile of Halo 2 we got)

here's what I want in Halo 3 Vista

*Have professionals do the port instead of a bunch of scapegoat lackeys
*Don't put it on a proprietary OS
*Don't make PC gamers pay for online functionality. Those of us who are used to getting what we want will spit in your face and not think twice about it... kind of like the entire PC gaming community did with Halo 2
*Don't just retexture models and say it looks better. Fix graphical glitches, make it run smoothly, make it a PC game damnit!
*Make the netcode work, Unlike Halo 1
*give us a HEK that does more than force you to torrent/buy 3ds max to bein to use.
*Don't give controller users autoaim. We don't like them to start off, and then you give them an advantage? thx, but I'd rather get -blam!-ly abused by a bear than give a no skill little boy the ammunition to win what he doesn't deserve
*put your pride into it. You made a beautiful work of art - don't throw it in the mud and expect us to beg for it.

There aren't difficult suggestions. I think that M$ will find, in the long run, that they'll be able to increase profits by making it a good game. If they don't realize it, I'll just give them the bird and play TF2.

Yes Halo PC was a bad port, but it pales in comparison to how bad H2v is. It's always in the details. Hired Gun did such a half assed job it's not even funny. The only saving grace is the fact that the game itself isn't total crap.

  • 02.22.2008 12:09 PM PDT

Halo PC is 2x better than H2V. The fact that they had to put on-line in, which they did a good job on. I hope Halo 3 Vista will bring us a better experience..

a bad port wouldn't receive 91% (British PC Gamer), And despite complaints I never experienced any studder or lags on highest settings in halo 1. Halo 2 is bad only because it isn't optimized and requires vista (aside from using the xp crack). Halo3 should be done the way gears of war was. maybe epic should work on all the 360 ports
