Well Enough Alone...
~"The people who play Bungie games tend to sense that there's something behind the games that's attractive to them. Then they become fans of the games. And then they become rabid fans. And then they become employees of Bungie."(Life story) -Marty
The situation has been escelating for some time now. Recently, if not before, I believe that is has reached a point that could be classified as a community civil war. The conflict is between the two opposite factions of the Halo and Bungie community; the competitive players vs. the "fan boys", change vs. no change, MLG vs. the long time community members. (generally, those go respectively, although there are inevitably acceptations).
The aggressive attacking "competitive, pro change, MLG-like" members flood the forums with their rants, ignorant and dismissive of opposing views. The currently outnumbered opposers retaliate, making counter topics and posts, some of them, I'll admit, just as close minded, and the battle wages on.
I don't know what that means for you, the reader. It depends on your alliance. Generally, the "fan boys" as some call them, loyal long time Bungie and halo fans, are the ones who Rome the community forum.
A compromise is inevitable. Eventually, Halo 3 will be changed and re-changed until it is tolerable and acceptable for both sides. That, or one side will win and the other have too few or inactive members to fight back. Neither side will ever be completely happy, or completely gone. I won't get into the specifics of the battle. One need only visit the halo 3 forum for those. But the war rages on. It is the cycle of things...
