I have the controller plugged in, driver installed, and everything. In Device Manager it shows the hardware "Xbox 360 Wireless Controller via Play & Charge Kit". Whenever I unplug the controller it disappears. However the Game Controllers section in the Control Panel. shows no game controllers at all, and whenver I open the custom edition game it greys out the section "gamepads". Can anyone help me? (By the way Don't say anything about how mouse and keyboard is much better because Im playing on a controller only server). Thanks.

Also, if theres a technical forum or something, (I couldn't find any for halo: CE) move this thread there.

No, Im wired.

Edit, well I am wireless, but Im plugging it into the PC via the wire that comes with wireless controllers.

Um, that wire only provides power; the controller is still transmitting wirelessly. For twenty bucks, you can purchase a USB adapter for wireless xbox 360 controllers.

Are the drivers installed and the controller connected to the receiver before you start the game? Did you select the gamepad in the control settings and map all the actions to the buttons?

Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

Yeah, the power cord thingy only supplies the controller with power. It still transmits wirelessly, and you still need a wireless receiver. Good way to charge your controller when you're not playing your Xbox, though.

Well thats 60$, I don't really think I can afford that. If I were to buy a completely wired controller, would it work?

Yes.

Both Halo PC and CE support gamepads if that's what you're asking. With this receiver and the proper drivers you can use a wireless Xbox 360 controller to play Halo.

So you're 100% sure that if I buy that same exact receiver that it will work fine? Does it come with drivers? Are they on discs?

A lot of people say that that receiver is not compatible with anything and it's not worth it.

I've used this receiver to play Halo with my wireless controller. A driver disc came with my bundled controller and receiver but I can't say for absolute certainty if the $20 receiver sold by itself will come with a driver disc. I suspect that it will but if it doesn't you can just download it.

All I can say is that I haven't encountered any issues with mine.

Ok, thanks. I'm going to buy one of those recievers the next time I'm out.

The MS one works like a charm for me.

It works with the Wireless 360 headset, and the Lifechat wireless headsets also. :)

I got mine for $10 on clearance at Wal Mart. It was $15, and I asked the guy if he could cut the price anymore and I got it for $10. :D

One more question. So I wouldn't have to do any button mapping with the Pinnacle progam? Am I all set once I get the reciever? Sorry about all of the questions.

No mapping with Pinnacle required. You have to map the buttons under the gamepad control settings in Halo. Just don't assign the X button to reload, swap weapons, or enter/exit vehicle. Map that X button to "action" and you're set.

Ugh, the receiver doesn't do anything special, the computer still recognizes the controller it it functions like all other controllers.
