how soon will it be the standard??? and with sli, does that require two cards or is it somewhat optional? should i just wait to build my pc since agp will be outdated somewhere in the near future? i dont want to get this pc built and then a month later itll be outdated

Right now I have a PCI-e slot. If you have the money, an nForce 4 AMD motherboard with a PCI-e slot is definately an option you should consider.

SLI is only SLI if you hae two cards connected by that one bridge, otherwise it's just one card. You can use one card on a SLI board.

SLI is VERY expensive. id on't recommend using SLI unless u are a rich girl. it can be up to 1000.00. just get nforce 4 ultra not sli. it shas pci express .(nforce 4 ultra). it'll be about 300.00 but it'll be worth it.

Yes, and then you have to go buy two GPU's, and you can get the same or better performance out of one ATi X850 or X800. It's true, those two cards have been proven two outperform two 6800ultras in a SLI config. Crazy.

sexy legs u must be crazy, on pcworld it proved SLI gave a 30 fps boost to many games on the market today. Its more powerful than ATI. however, i agree with the fact that x800 is a better deal.also, ati is not able to do SLI. sorry. only nvidia cards can do it, on the nforce 4 sli motherboards

True, ATi cards are not SLI ready.

Ioniz, you are partly right. However, go to tomshardware.com and go to their vga charts. You will notice that until you turn the settings to 8xAA, 8xAF, 1600x1200, the dual cards still do not beat the single ATi on most games. Granted, on OpenGL they beat the crap out of them, but games like Half Life are owned by ATi, even by single cards.

i agree but, halflife was designed for ati. Today, many develpors are focusing on one specific company, not 2 now. doom 3 (made for nvidia) has alot more fps with SLI than ATi. (like 25 or so). but i have to admit, the bad sexy dog is right in some ways.

Yeah, SLI does kick ATi's butt in Doom 3, and does exceed it in FarCry. It all really comes down to the card it was designed for, really.

well, its a lot more powerful than ati's but i think ati has better values and budget cards.
