anyway, after that ull be racomending a 9880 pro, then a x800, and so on.
i have a 9550, and it play all my games fine with anitanlyidng and the other stuff and it doesnt go below 20fps. i mean wen i got hl2 i just overclocked it a wee bit for more power.

well it is his choice , yes but he could use a better card, or he could keep playing halo at 800x640. even a 6200(60.00) will help alot in halo

The Rage, to be *nice*, sucks. I had one.

Why do you compare the 9600 pro to the 6600? They are seperated by about 2 years, the latter being way better.

X700 is pretty overclockable, x800 fairly overclockable, i'd say normal amount, and depending upon your number of fans. They can both go about 5-10% beyond stock speeds.

The x850, well that gets interesting. In order to oc it well, you need good case fans, at least 2 120mm ones, along with a fairly unobstructed air flow path (ie rounded floppy/eide cables). Then, make sure there's room for exhaust. I can oc mine 15% beyond stock speeds, although that's with the leaf blower fan on max.

Sexy Legs Davis, why do you insist on overclocking everything you own? Soon we'll find out you've been over clocking your cat or something. Haha I'm just kidding, but really, why over clock an X850 ???

PC building guides

Overclocking = saving money. Why buy an Athlon 3500 when you can get a 3200 for $100 cheaper and then OC it past 3500 speeds?

As far as the X850XT - me and some guys are having a bit of a competition with 3D Mark 05 :D

It's about time nVidia got around to the dual-card concept. If i'm correct, they bought out voodoo so long ago, they could've made the architecture for that concept several years ago.
On that note, you left out the Voodoo series. The (voodoo) 5 still outperforms most standard cards, because it utilized the SLI long ago.

True, Voodoo has had SLI for ages, but it never got past the hardcore gaming audience. SLI and dual cards will probably be the way to go in the future - the upgradability for having a SLI board and one card is huge. You can get great performance out of one 6800 ultra, but if you crave more you can get 2. SLI is good.

Okay, that's almost a 50% increase, but it's a lower end card. I would suppose it's on stock, too.

Yeah, if you don't overclock the RAM, there really is no point to overclocking the core.

I'd be happy with plain 3200 speeds. If it's supposed to be as fast as AMD claims it to be (should run as if it were 3.2 Ghz) then I would be very happy. Does a 3.2 GHz P4 w/ HT beat an AMD 3200+?

no, amd 3200 has a thing in it that allows it greater compat with games and such. the 3200 can have HT if its socket 939 with copatible motherboard, ofcourse. by the way panda how come i've never seen u online on multiplaya??????

http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jspProductCode=24 1158-MSI K8N NEO4-F
http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=2 4116-MSI K8N NEO4 platinum(this one has 1 PCI x4)
whats the differance??? PCI x4? or PCIx16 which is better for x800/x700???

Maybe by 200MHz, actually I've heard and seen some performance graphs that show the 3200 overclocks better than the 3500.

Yes, in theory you could, but that makes the performance/price ratio even more grossly large. I think the 3500 costs $100 more, so that's like 50% more for what, 200MHz?

Yep, looks good, only thing I might suggest is to get Corsair value select RAM instead - Kingston has been known to be cheap with their value lines.
