is a MSI K8N NEO4 platinum good for oc'in? o yeah could you tell me whats the difference(performance wise) between the MSI K8N NEO4-F and the NEO4 platinum besides the fact that the latter has 1x PCIx4??? is this necessarily good/ better for the x700 rather than a PCIx16

how much of a performance drop will there be if i use an ATi card with a nvidia based game and vice versa??

Well it depends. If you try to play an ATi card based game with a high end nVidia card, it will still work extremely well. Same works both ways. And a low end card would suck really bad on an nVidia based game and vice versa etc.

On nVidia games, ATi cards fair fine, and visa versa. True, they aren't as good as the next-gen competitor cards when they're at the disadvantage, but that's still running around 50 frames per second on Doom 3 with max settings - who needs that anyway. Either is a good choice.

X700 pro uses PCI express x16. The other slots, I'm not sure what they're for.

ur mb's good enough fryed. now, it depends on the type of game. Ati is known for visualizing fire and buildings. nvidias more good at animatiting magic adn such.

Well, if you have an AGP slot get an AGP card, the 9200 is PCI, and it's not that great. You can have a pc look at your motherboard to find out if it has AGP. What is your current card?

It won't play Halo past the minimum settings, the same with Half Life 2. It will be squeezing by at low settings with 30-50 fps.

If you have AGP, the 9600XT is good for its price.

As in the pc's they sell?

Usually it's the case, power supply, motherboard, processor, and fans, and nothing else.

On a side note, whenever you get a shuttle pc it's best to get a barebones one as many shuttle pc's differ in size, so certain components wont fit.

what kind of case fans should i get for the pc and that cpu gel stuff and anything i left out for cooling

Case fans depend on what your case has. Mine has a rear 120mm, 2x80mm side, 1x120mm front ports for fans. All of which are occupied.

120mm fans are loud, but they move a hell of a lot more air than an 80mm, sometimes more than two 80mm. I use Antec fans, but most brands are fine. If you get AMD you don't need any cooling gel, just peel back the protective cover on the heatsink bottom and the thermal grease will melt onto the CPU.

Case fans, get ones that have less than 25 dBa for sure. fill up all of your available fan ports, even with all of mine my case ocassionally gets too warm.
