Must stores (not including ones online) don't even carry anything below the 9600 series except I saw some 9250s at Best buy once.

I have a stupid question. What's the little green light thing that flashes under a cylindar shaped thing on the tower? What does it means if it blinks on and off?

Hey you know what is even funnier? I think it is kind of dumb, but the Radeon 8500 is better than the Radeon 9200. When I had the 8500 in my computer it made me invisible but I hadn't updated my drivers so I couldn't see through the scope of any gun. Now I have the 9200 in and it doesn't make my invisible at all, although I would appear to be invisible to others while they wouldn't appear invisible to me, because it would just make them gray instead of invisible. I am upgrading my ram to 1280MB from 512MB. After that I will probably upgrade my video card, but my memory is more important at the moment. What I do think is dumb is that the newer cards are not even as good as the old cards.

It doesn't look like anyone has answered your "stupid" question. Well on my PC it is an orange light that flashes next to the cylinder and this means that the computer is thinking. Also on my computer the green light turns on acknowledging that the computer is on.

Jesus, i had a GeForce MX440 (63 MB card) with 256 MB RD RAM and 2.4 GHZ Intel Pentium 4 processor and i was playing halo and when i got active camo i could see taht im invisible...lol...as for an awsome graphics card, i got the 9800 AIW Pro, and that card has been nothing but good to me...i watch TV with it and get tv quality images...i got it for only 230 buck off of newegg.com ...i also upgraded my comp to 512 RAM and now halo runs like a dream along with any other game i can throw at it (RCT 3, Dawn of War, HL2, NFS2, Doom 3, etc.) also, i was wondering, i found a site called clearoutclub.com and it was selling things like the 9800 PRO for only 40 something dollars and the Nvidia 6800 (Cant remember which one) for 140 something dollars!... they said that all of their items are from overstock and liquidation sales from other stores, does this site sound legit to you guys? Also, what is a sticky thread? And just 3 more questions...
1. I got the halo 2 mod for halo CE and i cant figure out how to get the maps to work, how do i get it working?
2. What is different between halo normal and halo CE, people said that there are maps, but i didnt notice anything different...
3. Am i the only one that plays halo online with the only lag being from servers, not graphics, but then when i play campaing, even with the 9800 AIW Pro and 512 RAM, i have to turn visuals like completely off and still lag even then!

That didn't seem very nice... I'll answer your questions:
Ok well I'm not sure about that site cuz I'm really paranoid about putting my card on the internet without someone else's advice.
Answers to your other questions (the numbered ones)
1. Ok you download the maps or whatever from a site. I suggest www.muffmeister.co.uk. After you're done downloading the map, you open up my computer, C drive, (if that's where you saved it) then you click on the "program files" folder, go to the "Microsoft Games" folder, go to "Halo Custom Edition," k now you just leave that window open.
PART TWO:
In the next part you find the map you downloaded and unzip it, click on "Whatever the folder name is" and then drag a an icon that has the map name on it and looks like a little paper with icons on it into the maps folder that you just opened in the first part of the instructions and now you have the map. It seems confusing at first but it gets really easy after doing it again and again.

2. You have to download all the maps to have different maps. It comes installed with the PC version maps but you have to download the special maps that have new vehicles, weapons, and completely new lay outs and stuff. There are a few Halo 2 maps that have been made too with new weapons different looking people.

3. The campaign lags a lot more than than multiplayer does. I'm not sure why but it does, PM a member named: Sexy Legs Davis for further information.

right well it seems that every1 is getting confused and are getting rong or bad information. Now i live the uk so my prices mite seem weird but it shpould b generally the same.
chossing a graphics card can b difficult and tedious but if u follow what everyone says then u should b fine.
firstly its mainly between nvidia or ati,(allthough gigabyte hav released a few gd ones). i personally hav an ati vid. card i think they all kick ass.
I havnt really had that much of a play with nvidias cards but i still think ati cards are a lot faster and better.
Now if u want a gd graphics card that will play all the latest games out there at the moment well for under £60 ($112) then u can get a midrange one that plays gd. i would recomemnd getting a radeon 9550 256mb or a 9600xt. it all depend on how much money u hav and how long u want it to last.
i have a radeon 9550 and i think its great, it uses the same core as the 9600 pro and xt so basicly is an underclocked version, allthough ull nvr b able to get it as stable or as smooth.
when buying an ati card i must say DO NOT GET SE as they suck ass, and are not much less in price difference.

if u have more then that then i will have to say get a 9800pro NOT a XT!!!!
there is one gd reason for this, the pro and xt are practicly the same card but it is only the bios which make the xt come out on top. if u just get a 9800PRO and flash the bios to an XT it will be exactly the same. but u manage to save the best part of £40. :)
If u are getting confused i would sugest going to smaller forums were thee are less people and hence u get answers quicker. i am sure a quick searcxh in google will give u step by step instructions on how to flash the 9800's bios.
now there isnt much difference at all with the pci-e and agp. right now they havnt really got far, and ull b silly in wasting ur money on pci express when agp plays just as gd. allthough, in the next year or so, im sure the pci-e standerd will increase rapidly and thats the time to buy. save ur money right now, and stick with agp and a mid range card.

if u live in the uk arond london or middlesex, i can recomend micrologics enough, their soo cheap and gd. www.micro-logics.com or www.extemepcs.co.uk

there well gd.

gd luck asses,
over and out
(wow that was -blam!-)

sorry but i have a few nitpicks, best band for your buck is indeed the 6600gt but isnt better than a 6800.. in a few games MABYE but you get into benchmarking and the 6800 wipes the floor with it, they are easy to softmod, overclock well and run smooth as ever on everygame ive played... halo and hl2 and farcry on max, no exceptions.. a standard 6600gt yields aroun 7500~ points in 3dmark2k3 on a HIGH end system (fx55 1gig high performance ram etc. etc) my 6800 before a softmod and oc yielded 8500 points on a mid-high end system (a64 3000+, 512mb performance ram etc. etc.) after the softmod and overclock it jumped up to 10500, almost what a 6800gt would pull in the same system, the clockspeed is default at 325 / 700 for core / memory respectively (and fyi its ddr that makes it twice as fast, dual channel has nothing to do with it not be a flame or anything) and after the soft mod i raised ti to 350 / 875 and that is the max my graphics card bios will elt, if i flashed it im sure i could hit almost a ghz on the memory and atleast 380 on the core which im sure would beat a 6800gt...

ive been doing some research on all the possibilities, reading reviews, ect. and im deciding to go with the GeForce 6800 Ultra OC. Is this a good choice? between the reviews and awards, it seems so. will appreciate any input. :)

gecube? No clue what that is, but no, not really. It's for PCI, and that generally means it's not gonna be very good.
