the AGP slot is a brown colored slot on the mobo next to all the white PCI slots. every PC has at leats 1 pci slot remember they're white and AGP are brown.

ioniz - you will get what you pay for. The DFI board will be the one that'll make you the most happy. ECS, Chaintech, all the boards under $110 are iffy and have some less than par benchmarks and reviews. Just a warning...

If you want the $30 solution to pc cooling techniques, get a box fan and some duct tape, and strap one of them suckers to the side of your computer.
when you flow several cubic yards of air in a minute, air IS a solution.
then again, cooling has not been a problem recently, so i've yet to resort to it.
often times, hardware supplements can mean the difference between performance and the lack thereof. You should have no problem running Halo lagless on 64mb vid cards, your problem is memory and configurations. that, and i've found that 1 gb of HD can equal <1 second loads.

And to note, i'm still waiting on Halo 2 for my comp.

mistle, u don't know how pc's work huh? well no offense, but that is probably the dumbest idea i've ever heard. video cards don'yt really use memory so much. they really depend on ther GPU, not the memory aperture size.

Sexy Legs, thx but is it THAT bad? i just need a motherboard that doesn't have problems. i don't care if its is a little slow. if its that bad, i'll just go gigabyte or asus or abit or dfi

hm.. just get a cheap but good graphics card like an 9550 and get a new mobo thats okay.

neway...
i have an 9550se on one of my pcs, but unfortuantely bcos of its stupid size, it is practicly imposible for me to find a suitable cooler. i want one that has a cooper or aloy heatsink and it has to have a fan too. noiise it not an issue here. also it has to FIT!!!!!1
it is 16cm by 7cm from the mobo.

its also very close to the cpu fansink and the sata cables:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

so ne small but cool solution would be appreiacted greatly. thanks.

heres a link to my card :

If you have an AGP bus, yes (bus=slot).

Ioniz - nope, it's not BAD. I only know about a few mobos. It's best to search the name of the mobo, like "ECS NF4 socket 939 review" and check some reviews. I always do that before I buy anything.

I would think the first little mini mod would be to outfit it with some UV cold cathodes? Your case would light up like crazy, then.

All depends on exactly what you're getting...not all parts are equal...

I'd say for everyday use 9/10, for gaming 6/10, mainly because your processor will hold that video card back. Really, the bare minimum for a gaming computer, a new one, is about a 2800 or 3000 as far as AMD goes. I'd get at least nF3, too. Otherwise you will need to upgrade most of it sooner than you think =\

Green and blue is very effective. So is red/blue, which is what I have. I use blue UV reactive fans, UV cold cathodes, but have red led's on my motherboard, on the two motherboard exhaust fans, and generally just accenting stuff. Very good combo. If you want your case to 'glow', since it is UV reactive, you gotta get UV cold cathodes, though. A normal blue or red CCFL won't make UV sensitive stuff brighten up.

don't get too many lights now fryed boy, they might produce enough light as powerful as the sun. besides, why do u need a night light? ur a 15 yr old boy not a baby(will now i think u are)!!!!!!! however, using ur case as a nightlight is quite original.

hmm.. i just have to say that not all AGP slots are brown, just in case someone out there is thinking s_h_i_t i dont have a AGP slot, im screwed. wel its usually the one thats like the lil pci slots (generaly white) but moved in ur mobo a bit.
personaly my agp slot is green on my gigabyte NF3 mobo.(k8ns)
also i wopuld rate that about 70/100
i mean ur proseor is a bit lame nowdays, and like sexy said will evntually hold u back (would recomend a amd 64 3000)
and also it depnds on wat u use it for. also can u give more detail. i mean and 80gb hd mite be okay, but i have an 160gb SATA hard drive so it is faster.

about lights. i have 3 outer case fans with blue leds on them which give an awsum glow. also i have blue cold cathodes too. wicth are great but bcos they are 12", placing was an ass in my case. i also have a thermaltake truelight ramsink with blue LED's and u can change their flashing pattern or tuen them off.
i am also about to get a UV sata cable and some more fans and neons and ramsinks. along with some RAm and a graphics card cooler. ALL blue(like my pc, and my room and eeryting else i have)

hopefully this will look well cool,
i mean now, people come in my room and think wow, but i want it to be really cool. REALLY cool!!!11

That's rocking! Damn you have a load of blue stuff!

Well, the crappy blue fans that came with my case failed, two 80mm side ones. I have 2 120mm blue LED fans, one in front, one in back. As mentioned, I've got loads of reds LED accents on the mobo and such, so I'm gonna roll with that and get some red UV reactive fans with red LED's. Red/blue just rocks.

In addition, I've ordered mosaic mirror cuts of 'candy apple red', 1/2 inch square tiles of rippled mirror that looks sort of like water. That'll accent the bottom of my case with a reflective blood red color - gonna rock.

I would say get a 3000+ Athlon 64 if you can, they have a bit of a better architecture than the XP, and they're clock speed is more on par as far as AMD goes.

i don't think ur parents'll be too happy.............

sexy legs i'm not upgrading my pc cause i'm only a 14 year old, and i don't have 240.00 to upgrade here for a mobo and proccesor. i've saved for 3 months for that 6600 gt agp. then i overclocked it for more power and the power is huge.
