Alienware's are just really good computers in funky cases. Just buy all the parts for your computer and take them to a computer store place and they'll put it together for you.

Not sure if anything like this has been posted but. If you have bought a Dell 2400 Dimension Desktop then you are limited to getting Pci cards, As the AGP slot is Gone, it's only in this model that for some reason the slot is gone.

I think some of you need to setup a gaming profile on your pc. I have a 4 year old pc with a nvidia geforce4 ti 4200 and I play half life 2 at 1600x1200 with all the graphic settings cranked. It runs perfectly smooth. If I play it on my normal profile with some background programs running I can only play have it on 800x600.

I would be getting a ABS If I got dual 6800's

And anyway I don't have the time

I would normally not try to fiddle with it to make it work but depending on how much cheaper it is I might make time

Alienware = overpriced. They do have the option to get watercooling and such installed, but doing it yourself is cheaper, more fun, and easier to fix.

Hola from Mexico! Im currently studying here for another 10 days. So hence why I havent really been on the forums. Tomorrow I may be able to get on...not sure, you never know here.

Why shouldn't you get an ATI 9800 pro from Sapphire? And does anyone know if an HP pavilion a250y has any AGP ports?

yo u can either open your pc and see. The white slots are PCi and the brown long ones are AGP also you can go to my computer right click it go to proptries and then go to hardware then device manger and check there. If you do have a AGP the you should get ATI 9600xt or a 9800pro if you have only PCi slots then go with an ATI 9250. Good Luck!!

snow - it just sucks compared to even a 9800, non-pro. Yeah, bad buy, its basically a 9800se in disguise.

Well, it's me again.

I bought that PNY FX 5500 and its the best 60$ i've ever spent. It turned out after all that it was a PCI card!

Retails at 120$ at tiger direct
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-deta ils.asp?EdpNo=1071564&CatId=0

Farcry ran very smooth at low-medium settings and doom3 ran smooth at the lowest possible settings... so now i just need more ram.

Thanks ALOT for your help sexy.

ioniz, " the geforce 5500 sucks like crap "
I completely disagree, thanks for your input but i'm happy with the card.

500 mghz to 552 mghz
