Depends, but the upper end PCI cards (which aren't THAT good, really), will be better. A 9550 or FX5500 will be much much better than integrated. Faster, better graphics - plus it'll free up memory since integrated shares system memory.

That sounds like a good graphics card. The card I have now can only play Halo at 30 FPS. Is that bad if it runs halo at 30 FPS? I was told that I need a new graphics card and i know i do. So, Do you think I should get the 9600 XT? If so, please send me a link 2 where i can read more about it and buy it. I tried 2 play Half Life 2 with my graphics card i have now and it kept freezing up i couldnt even play it. Do you think that is my graphics card or something else? And also, i can tell my graphics card istn that good cuz sometimes in Halo i get this pic of a card with red X over it in bottom right of screen. Also, the base on blood gulch in Halo has like purple dots all around the base. I think thats a bad sign. lol. anyway, please write back. I think i can come up with $130. But i want 2 make sure it will let me play games and make Halo run at a higher fraps and actually let me play Games like Half Life 2 and stuff that need high FPS and good video cards. Im afraid im g2 buy it then my game will still mess up sometimes and I lost 130 dollars. Hopefully that wont happen. Thanks for reading this and helping me out sexy leg davis!!! one more question: If i buy that video card will I be able 2 install it on my computer at home and my laptop or will I have 2 buy 2 graphics cards??? THANKS A LOT!!! From: Travis

oops, i think i meant to say the 9800XT. Is the 9800XT the 130 dollar one that runs Half Life 2 at no less than 40 FPS??? If that is the one, then i want the 9800XT if its $130 and its the one u talked about on page 1 of this board. What would that 130 dollar graphics card that i might get run Halo in? Mine Card now runs Halo in 25-30 FPS. Thanks.

1. Why does he need two 9800XT's?

2. Mobile versions can be ordered from the respective companies by phone, usually, or sometimes by online order [ATi used to let you order mobile cards on their site]. If not, check newegg or try and find a laptop component store online.

He said he had a laptop and a pc and he wanted to know If he had too buy two cards or just one for pc and laptop
and for the laptop he needs a mobile version
and for his pc he needs a regular
and It would be too much of a hassle and it gives a chance for the card to chip or something like

System specs, full, including processor, ram, and current video card. That'll help me more than the, well, nothing I'm basically working off of. Also, it sounds like you have an ATi card because I have the same problem. I think the newer ATi drivers have some odd effects in games. Most games I play, in a few areas each level there is a random purple or yellow splotch. I don't notice them unless I look hard, but they're there.

If your card can get 35-40 fps on the newer games and halo with high settings, its good. Theres no point in paying for the cards that will play it at 60fps because you can't see any difference. if you tell us what card you have now, what grapghics slot you have and the processor you have, we can help you better.

I will post all the info about my computer lik ethe ram and processor and card and stuff this afternoon. I am at school right now so i cant access that info. RAMa nd processor ahve small effects mainly on games. However, its mainly the video card that affects games the most.

Well, the RAM and CPU need to be fast enough to send all the information to the graphics card for processing. Also, the RAM needs to have a wide enough bus and fast enough transfer rate so the CPU can handle physics and AI.

In fact, if you play a game like the battlefield series, you almost need at least a 3200 to not lag, due to up to 63 AI.

However, it isn't as important for graphics, but if you want overall speed, I think it's right to sacrifice an overkill card in light of a medium one paired with a decent procesoor, instead of a slow proc and a really fast GPU.

It was a cold day near the southern base in Blood Gulch. Cortana and I were relaxing over a game of Go Fish, WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE 700 BANSHEES CAME FLYING IN!!! I GRABED MY SPARTAN LASER AND LET HELL REIGN DOWN UPON THEM. I HOPPED IN THE NEAREST WARTHOG AND TOLD CORTANA TO GET IN.

Where do XL cards stand ajacent to XT or Pro versions?

Honestly, I thought Halo fixed the framreate at 30 fps by default - so 30 fps isn't bad. Isn't 30 fps the same framerate that comes off of standard cable television? Not spectacular, but good enough, eh? Considering that, from what I understand, at least, the human eye can only see at about 30 fps.... (but I may be confused...)
