30 frames is the max. It won't stay there. It caps it at 30. It's not a very useful option, IMO.

Basically, if he has integrated, he will average 10-20fps, worse in big fight scenes and with a lot of stuff happening. Yes, it can be bad. My friend plays Halo at 1-7fps. The 30fps isn't useful for someone with a slow GPU. Your average frame rate on Halo will be due to your GPU. No software can set a framerate average for a game, unless your framerate is usually over that cap.

BTW, he did say that he had integrated. That's his GPU.

Its only capped at 30 if you pick that option in the video settings. If you pick Vsync or No Vsync, the FPS can go higher.

If you have an integrated chip, it won't do much. In the video options you should see an option about framerate. You can change it there. It only unlocks the framerate, by doing this you won't necessarily get a more fps. Having video options on also lowers your framerate so playing on low at 640x480 will yeild higher framerates than playing on high at 1600x1200.

The only way to get more frames per second is to reduce quality. 640x480 seems where it's at for you, nothing higher than 800x600 for sure.

Yes. If you are looking to upgrade from integrated, that would be a minimum for Halo. See if you can find a 5500.

Um.... ok I'm looking for some advice.... my Comp's motherboard is PCI only so I'm stuck with a PCI Radeon 9200, and , it's really not an enjoyable experience, is there any hope? Do you guys know of any PCI to AGP or PCI-X adapters?

P.S. The 9200 on Halo PC makes it so that you can see people in camo, but like thats the only upside

There are no adapters you could get a new mother board click Here

Its a mother board with a agp slot and its cheap. I dont know if it fits your case though. SEXy legs davis told me it was a good one for my COMP. Dont go with the radeon 9200 it only has directx 8.0 features if i was you would go with a nivida fx5500 its just as fast as the 9200 and it has directx 9.0 fetures. Hope i help :)

Halo has a special system that allows only 30 fps max. VSYNC however, taxes some from processor and more from VGA. When i want NO lag, i switch to VSYNC, but cuz of my poopy athlon 2100, i usually don't try it.

AS Rock is an okay company. I recommend a VIA K8T800 or Nforce 3 if u have money. However, if ur a kid and ur poor(like me), then get what Vectrorcer showed u.

5500 is AWFUL!!. I used to have one and it lagged the heck out of my PC when playing halo. It felt like only 5 FPS when i was playing. The ATI 9500 or 9600 will be a little better for only 89.99! Or get a Nvidia 5700 LE for 94.89! Vectrocracer, its okay to get 5500, but 5700 has Tons of improvement such as more advanced shaders, and more texturing devices. Even though i syggest the 6600 GT for only 149.99! The AGP version of the 6600 gt is getting very cheap now.

I would like to point out that PCI slots suck in general for video cards.

I would like to second that. Strongly concur. PCI = utter waste. I would say that now a 9800 Pro is starting to replace 9600XT on my list of the mid card to have now. Going that low will force you to buy another in a year, unless all you do is play Halo...

I would like to triple it

the only reason that I am getting a 9700 is because the only laptop that offered a 9800 switced a newer one

I would like to quadruple that.... When is this gonna stop LOL. I only have pci slots so i know what i meant to kid kid i was talking about the MOBO. Is that if he doesnt get the MOBO then a fx5000 is his best choice for PCI or is it the FX5700Le NOt sure.

Its not out yet. It is almost the same as SLI but you don't need 2 SLI enabled (on in this case MVP enabled) cards to use it. One card is the slave and the other is the master.

I'm too lazy to dig it up or give you the explanation...so, some links:

[http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/05/06/ati_mvp_details/]The Register, I heard it here first.

[http://www.hexus.net/content/reviews/review.php?dXJsX3Jldmll d19JRD0xMTY1]Just some speculation about its impact.

In a nutshell, you can use any current PCI-e ATi card, and when the MVP cards hit, grab one, along with he motherboard designed for it, and pop it in. Doesn't even need to be the same model, nor the same company, although the faster one of the two will run at the speed of the slowest. Either way, it's a much better upgrade path. In addition, no need for any connector or jumper setting with the cards.

ATI has dual cores but nvidia already has made dual cores in the 5700 series. By the way, 512 mb VRAM cards are out now!!!
