It's not dual cores, it's dual video cards. ATi's competition for SLI. The only dual core card I know of is the Gigabyte one. The 512MB cards perform no better than the other versions at this point in time, I would like to add.

Not for gaming, not at all. ATi FireGL, nvidia Quadro, and others are for 3D CAD. They can hold a lot of visual info in 3DS, I mean a lot. However, their architecture is pretty poor for gaming.

The best I know of that is commercially available is the 3D Labs Wildcat Realizm 800 - about $2500-3000. The Quadro you speak of is for mid-range CAD and the ability to test it in say, some games. However, the 3D Labs cards cannot even play games. But, they're wicked awesome for 3DS Max.

In addition, CAD cards are much more expensive than normal GPU's simply because of their low-demand and more complex chipset architecture.

Don't buy it for games, buy it if you're making a workstation.

5500 isn't great. I won't lie. Maybe a 6600GT is your next upgrade - but I don't know what your pc's specs are? Those would help...

Why would you want a mobility card on a desktop and also why would he need that advice if he doesn't have one?

I have a 5500. Its not great but its the best PCI card out there. I plan to upgrade to a 6600gt, along with upgrading the rest of my system.

Kind of off topic:

Will a liquid cooling system replace all fans in your PC? And what are some nice power supplies? I got a cheap 40$ one because of my budget when I re-built my computer, but now that isn't a problem.

Yes a liquid cooling system will replace the fans in your computer. If you are buying tubing buy too much. You can always cut it to make it fit.

Check this out,

Later this summer I'm going to upgrade my processor to the San Diego FX55 and ATI X850 PE Video Card. This is the liquid cooling system I am going to get to go along with it:

& the Water Block for the V-card

All that power, and it's going to run dead silent. Pretty sick -blam!-

1. You may still want a couple fans! Intake + outtake mainly because the RAM, HDD's, and other goodies do produce heat. I will still run my 2x120 and 2x90 in my Tt Armor simply because of that, and my ambient in summer hits 39C otherwise!

2. Ahh, the Zalman. I considered that, too. I just ordered a Koolance Exos myself. The Zalman will be nearly silent, the only noise is the pump! However, it's just as good as a stock heatsink in performance tests, just know that.

3. Make absolutely sure that the VGA block fits your card! Check Zalman's site, as there are many different types of blocks for different cards and generations.

I looked all over the Zalman Website, and it doesn't have any info for card compatability. It seems like it would work with any VGA card but I'm not really sure. Heres the site for the Water Block:

One more off topic question:

Do all ATX Power Supplies work on all ATX Cases? Like would this work on a generic ATX case?

BTW Sexy Legs, I just found out you live in Washington. Have you ever been to gameclucks in lynwood? Or lanwerx in bellevue?(I think they just closed down) :(

Yes, all ATX psu's work with ATX cases, no matter what the size, mid tower, full tower, etc. Just read your thread on psu's to find out which ones I'd suggest.

Nope, never been to those. I usually compete in local LAN's with friends and people in my HS. I have heard of lanwerx tho. I might be interested in going to one this summer...

well see my pc only has a PCI solt i mean 5500 does the job and i would like to 6600GT but is that made for AGP solts only cuz if it is i cant get it o by the way could u get a AGP solt built in ur pc

the 6600gt is made for AGP and PCIe slots only. The 5500 is one of the top cards for PCI slots. You can't add an AGP or PCIe slot onto a motherboard that doesn't have one.

Yes, that would require new chipset configs, new PCB wiring...it would be impossible, in essence.

You can't really compare specs. It all depends on how the game is ported.

Yes, they will increase the performance substantially.

Hmm, no, if you can't handle games now I doubt, nay [olde english!] I venture to say that you won't be able to play newer games.
