I really am just posting this because ive never heard anyone mention this and i really dont have much supporting evidence but maybe some of you guys can speculate further. but have you ever thought that the forerunner are actually the phor... i mean marathon and halo are completely related and it would be interesting.... maybe 343 recognizes humans not because they are the forerunner but because he saw the spartan I from the marathon trilogy.. just a thought tell me what you think. besides maybe forerunner is just a bastardization of phor by the covenant.

that still doesnt make it untrue... somehow humans got the the phor... they could have just left everything behind in our galaxy and moved on.

they could have just set of the halos and left to excape the blast and that way they wouldnt die... so then they would be really far away

The first spartan fights the phor in marathon so that can't be.

The Jjaro were at Tau Ceti.

Even if the Marathon and Halo timelines were connected, which they're not, it wouldn't make sense that the Pfhor are the ones who created Halo. As a race, they're not that extremely old, and in the Marathon universe, they were known for either reverse engineering or destroying the technologies of a myserious ancient race that vanished long ago...

yoo•zel- ('yoo-zhul): slang: vb.

Officium quod Fidelitas.

I think the best anwser might be found in Greek and Roman mythology it is where Bungie gets alot of it's names and such. Marathon was actually a greek city state.

Yoozel, do you honestly want to turn this into a history thread? I am willing to write down loads of crap if you do too.

If you want to do that, that is fine by me. This ought to get pretty interesting.

I always assumed the Forerunner were some sort of silicon or other non carbon-based lifefore. That at least explains why they thought destroying all organic life in the galaxy is better than letting the Flood spread.
