Subject: Was the Member Title Bug Fully Fixed?

On Waypoint I'm rocketFox;

There do seem a fair amount of Mythics but I think it seems that way because we all post in this forum and The Flood more than anything else.

I'm a serious dude, so what?

i can only offer my theory on member titles, and that is:
1. When you join, I think everyone gets the Heroic rank, at least for a few days or posts,
2. The rank isn't necessarily how long you've been a member, it' probably got something to do with actually answering questions and being logged in.
3. No d0uchebaggery.

To answer a previous question; yes, if you've been here for years and don't have mythic, it is, in fact, stosh's fault.

For the most part, I agree with your post; as in some people obviously don't deserve a high trust rating. I must, however, address one paragraph of your post Noshot.

I'm sorry Achronos, but all the given info you have given us on how one gains these ranks, dealing mostly with time since your account was created on Bungie.net and past blacklisting. It wouldn't make sense one whos been here not even 6 months deserves the title of being Heroic or Legendary. I was just wondering if anyone else notices this?

Achronos hasn't given us anything of how the trust system works. The only thing he has given us, which was still very vague, was that of how long someone has been on the site. There are quiet possibly hundreds, if not thousands, of other criteria that we do not know about, and never will know about. Those that are Heroic Members and such, earned the title. For example, myself. This account I made in mid July, and it already has a good trust rating.

Basically, what I am saying, the criteria is unknown, and always will be unknown. It is not our decision to say who should and should not be Heroic. That is up to those that know the calculation and how the system works.

Edit: Posted by: xZFx Link
I find that since titles don't mean anything, I don't care for them. BUT, Its annoying that if your going to have them you should in depth explain how one obtains that rank.

I personally don't believe anyone who has been here less then a year should recieve the title of being a Heroic member. I'v seen it on some members so, yes I think the bug was never fixed.

They are not ranks. Period. They are trust ratings applied to certain users, to show the webteam who is and who is not trustful. Revealing what criteria the system is based off of, would make the system useless since it would be manipulated. All you have to know is 'Play Nice'. That's it.

In this case, I don't think that it has much to do wiht the amount of time you have been a member here for, being as I have been here since about may to june of 2007, and yeah I agree there is a bug.

1. Your a member when you join. and yes it doe have something to do with when you joined, but Achronos told us that with no specifics.
2. Being logged on is a possibility but answering questions is not because a program has no way of knowing what you have typed or of what quality it is to the situation at hand. It just knows you typed something.
3. Thats a given.

my #1 point was based on the fact that every single day there are about 3 more posts asking about this same topic. When I joined, I had a heroic rank. Then after about a week, or maybe a handful of posts, it demoted to Member. I'm arguing that Bungie.net has created this intentionally, that it's not totally a glitch, but why I do not know.

I'm not saying there was never a glitch with titles, but instead that:
Bungie toys with its fans.

Is there a need for a post like that? No....

Anyway, I talked to the OP through pm's and he said he has not been banned, there must be more to this system if that's the case.

As with the more heroics, I don't really think it matters much, it's just a little title with a different colour bar...

I don't care about my title, I have no problems being a member. I was simply asking if anyone new if there is any proff that the glitch was fixed. I may be wrong, but it seems a majority of posters on this topic say that Mytic members have become "to" common then before, and that some people kept there Heroic Member titles after the update, that may not have deserved them. If you have any "posts of proff" then please post it.

I am a proud user of correct spelling and grammar.

I think the trust rating is based on length of being a member on Bnet and something to do with a post to blacklist ratio. If you can post x number of times without being blacklisted or warned, then you could possibly be promoted.

There is a good chance of there being more things that are looked at when determining trust, but this is what I think makes up some of it.

You prove my point exactly you were here for what....7 months are your a heroic member. Believe me I'v seen far more people who have been here far longer then you with no blacklistings, as well as more post. The bug wasn't fixed and your proff of it...

You don't have to flip out because I can them ranks, and you call them trust rating. A rank is anything given to someone for there status in an event or anything dealing with members.

What does this accounts join date have to do with anything? It just barely matters when your account was created, barely. There are hundreds if not thousands of other criteria that we do not know about; which from Achronos' posts, show nearly our exact posting behavior. I also highly doubt the amount of posts one has made has any determination as to what their trust rating is; since it's trust, not who can post the most. I would also just like to make one thing clear, I did no such thing as 'flip out'. I was simply explaining the system for what it is, that is all.

I'm telling you that when a new person joins they ALWAYS seem to have Heroic. Now I don't know why they get it, I don't know why it goes away, I don't know why some people have been here forever and don't have it, hell, I don't know why some people have been members for a couple of months and haven't had it revoked yet, all I can say is that according to my experience and observations noo--uh--new members are given the rank of Heroic when they join, and then shortly thereafter it is knocked down to Member. I know it doesn't answer all your questions, but it is at least (as far as I have been able to ascertain) a fact.

Why don't you guys go and actually see if I'm right about this?

O_o

I joined in '06, and everyone I know from '06 is a Len\gendary Member. Even My friend who signed up 2 days after me is one.. :O

Maybe they didn't work out the kinks and bugs enough.. But don't worry, I trust it that Bungie is compentent enough to get the job done.

  • 02.26.2008 6:38 PM PDT

*Sgt

I'm pretty sure the bug we all experienced a few weeks ago is fully gone. Most of the heroic members were demoted or changed to the status that they actually deserved. Achronos did say though that he would be toying with the system that determines member ranking for some time, just to see what he could improve or change.

So to shorten this up, Jun is master chef.

Posted by: Killed by Pasta
As far as I know it was fixed. I would also like to stress that it is a trust system. The system doesn't go off of how long you've been here.

But late '07 isn't right no matter what, if you could find one, could you post the link to the profile?

Actually, it does go off of your time here. I believe that there is a ratio of time here in comparison to number of locked threads, bans, warnings, etc. If you've been here for two years and have never been banned, you will easily be higher than someone who's been here for 4 months and has never been banned. The amount of time that the account has been registered does play a major role, but so does amount of time banned.

There's obviously something wrong here. Send me a PM if you want to see proof in the form of a Heroic Member who has made a total of two (poor) posts (both on the same day, might I add), and hasn't logged in since then. This member joined in late October last year, too...
