i read all 3 of them and they all were great. Personally i didnt like the first one that much so i recommend you read the second one (which is covering the halo game) then read the third one (covering the time between halo and the beginning of halo 2)

I've read all three and they compare to other good sc-fi books. Meaning they are very good. They add a lot of depth to the story of Halo. If you don't read first strike, then you may not know what's going on in Halo 2.

What the??

The first book was awesome. It gave great background on how the Spartans came to be and why Master Chief was alone in halo.

I highly suggest all 3 books. They really help fill in the back story, some of the gaps in the game, and the third sets you up nicely for Halo 2

Read all of them, they're all great really. It's fun to actually know the entire story behind the game.

If I were you, get them all at once. Or at least read all three of them. I don't have a favorite, although it was cool to know what was going about on Halo when you were busy kicking Covenant butt, I read the Flood in just three nights. It was nutts.

psyco raven, i loved the first book too, im just saying it wasnt my favorite. First strike was probably my favorite. We could turn this into a book discussion but their would be too many spoilers for those who havent read.

They are extremely good. In fact...not only are they a frikin awsome battle/destruction book, but many concepts have deep and philosophical meaning. Some of the stuff was so frikin intellegent, I had to read it twice or thrice to understand it. (that doesnt usually happen)

There are 10 kinds of people in the world: those who know binary, and those who don't.

yea i've read all of them and i enjoyed all of them, they are good novels in general, not really fantastic, but good, and they are damned interesting to the avid halo gamer. the first and thrid are the best in my opinion, because they have completely new info, while the second is still interesting, even tho it is primarily just eh same story u've already seen in halo. this first is about hte formation of the spartan group from prolly before john's(master chief's) birth and the covenant threat all the way up to the beginning of the game. the second covers the game from beginning to end, and the third covers after the game, in the events leading up to or even possibly included in halo 2. its great stuff for halo players. read em, trust me, its not like they're really expensive anyway.
