i no cmt is vsutom map team, but i've seen vids on youtube, and tehse look better. and they haven't got rid of health bars on CMT! :(

i guess it's okay if cmt don't use em. but i'm slightly dissapointed by thier weps, and STILL being inaccurate at h3. i woudl make somthing of my own.. but a design program cost $30 a month.. "now with hexagons to make things 3D!"

H2V is garbage. We were the first of the public to get the game, and we had talked to the developers before it had launched.
Things went wrong in H2v's development, which make it a mere shadow of what it could have been, and that is ireversible now.

But for you to say it's creative is an overstatement. It IS copied weapons etc. from bungie. It's not so much a creative achievement as it is a technical one. We're just all kinda tired of Halo PC. I wish these guys' talent was spent making something in, say, the source engine.


We haven't shown everything just yet, we have some non h2/h3 stuff that we're keeping quiet for now. We've had some cool concepts that we just can't add into the mod (like the X-ray sniper), due to memory restrictions and such.. We choose to work with Halo CE because we love Halo 1, although you may see us on the UT3 or Crysis engine in the future.

IMO it's pretty bad, some of the stuff is ok, but we can do much better making it on our own, as someone else said farther down the thread.

No, Source is an game engine. While CMT COULD be making fresh and interesting and GOOD weapons, maps, vehicles etc. But they are copying halo 2 and 3 and making things that dont play very well (ex their HUD). Would they be able to adapt to the source engine who knows but I would rather see a mod on Cryengine 2 since it's technically a lot better and has more potential.

What exactly do you think we don't execute very well? And why don't you like our HUD, it is far mor effeciant than any of the other Halo HUDs, and takes up only slightly more space than H2s.

I always thought CMT maps were pretty good, although their weapons could have used a little more tweaking. Especially their version of the AR, which from time to time would lose a couple rounds from the magazine like so many socks in the dryer.

Glad to see you're still around here. We've improved the AR lots and It is 10000000x better than our old one, in terms of appearance and ballance.

Why would you want us to get rid of it? Healthbars make the game much more unique.
I will say that I have thought about making a new health system, where you health would recharge based on how many enemies you are killing, this way we would retain the ability for you to be wouned, but still have a way to get into fighting form. Ideas and opinions on this are appreciated.

You do realize that the maps out came out before the H3Beta, and that maps don't update themselves. The things that we have that are in H3 are now 95% identicle to hwo they work in h3.

Never say never.lol.jk. I just like the fact that Halo3 is being incorporated into the Halo1 campaign. I love Halo3 weapons and the Halo1 campaign and the dreams that could come out of it, so this is really awesome. Either way, i can't wait for the next CMT SP. It will be like a new Halo game.lol.

And thats the only reason why I'm installing Halo PC/CE on my new laptop this summer.
And their sniper rifle and shotgun won't change because they are unique looking.
Two questions though, any in game screenshots of the Spartans-III and/or Brutes avaliable and when CMT SP-V2 is out, will I have to delete the CMT SP-V1 to play it?

No I said that creating a bunch of weapons exactly like Halo 3 was lame and unoriginal and that I would rather play halo 3 than some mod.

1. The Sniper rifle feels cheap, the scope doesn't work and it's a hack that looks bad. You can easily tell you aren't looking through the scope lol.
2. Your(CMT) map design generally is overly complex with no real flow if you want to take a map like tensity it looks and feels like it should be wizard or derelict but when you play those maps it's easy to maneuver and feel your way around. On your map you need to memorize some ridiculous corridors to get to a teleporter.
3.Every other weapon either feels cheap or just feels bad.
a) Assualt rifle I am sorry but you picked a horrible yellow and it looks like just well bad, granted yellow is hard to work with though. Try a warmer shade. The same goes with the red and blue ->yellow->red was never a good idea
b) your SMG takes the halo 2 SMG and makes it even more worthless as a functional weapon. To be clear I mean that in halo 2 the SMG was a terrible starting weapon, it remains the same in halo ce.
c) I dont know why you messed with the pistol placement as it takes up even more of the screen than before, at least the halo 2 pistol was a smaller model.
d) The plasma grenade explosion looks crappy without HDR or faux HDR not to mention electrical arcs dont linger around like they do in your animation.
e) just about every gun reload animation is overly complex, as if people really design guns to take a minute to reload so it looks pretty.

Now lets move on to the HUD
a) wasted space wasted space wasted space wasted space wasted space wasted space
b) wasted space wasted space wasted space wasted space wasted space wasted space wasted space
c) Who designed this, someone who plays the game or a programmer? Put everything closer to the edge and remove all the wasted space that makes up 50% of the HUD.

The S3's are not skinned yet, and the new brutes have no anims yet, so no pics for now. Soon as they are done, they will be posted. The sniper is changing, and the new one looks pretty cool and comes in a silenced and non-silenced varient. You will have to delete SPv1, but it's a piece of garbage, you won't ever want to play it again once you have V2.

You'll be happy to know this is being changed.

it's a fair point, but there are bungie maps which suffer from the same things.

I think you're being a bit silly critizing our weapons based on your preferencs of blue, yellow and red. We wanted to make our AR stand out from the rest, so it wasn't a rip off of h1/h3.

The reason why we made it a starting weapon was that we felt h2 and h3 were making a mistake with only a single starting gun. We wanted to give you the pistol, a good long range weapon, but also give you the BR, which is overall better. We wanted to give you something to use if you were stuck in close range combat when you spawned, and when I have a SMG I can rack up the kills with it pretty quickly. We've made the SMG a better and more fun gun to use since the MP maps were released anyway.

We thought it looked good and powerfull this way, I don't see this as that important an issue. Whats the point of a pretty gun if you can't see it well anyway?

I'm confused, I thought you DIDN'T want us copying h3. Our plasma nades arn't suppose to copy H3's

We spend time making our guns look good, and we want people to notice it. Our guns don't take that abnormaly long time to be reloaded anyway.

Now lets move on to the HUD

The point of a HUD is to display all the information to the player as fast as it can. The only flaw I think with our hud is the nade panel, as H1 can't display the number of nades you have in reserve like h2/h3. The concept of the nade HUD was that it would transform, into a bar when you had duals in H2V. The Health bar is not much larger than the H3 one, and the weapon panel takes up less space than the H2 SMG HUD. It also uses the bars, whichis a much more effeciant way of seeing how many bullets you have left displayed as pictures. In addition, it makes it extreamly easy for us to change and add new weapons in, something that we do alot of. Overall, the HUD is slightly larger than H2's. but it is far from intrucive.(SP?) I find it interesting you wish the HUD should be moved more to the sides of the screen, most people I know who play h2v set the HUD to be closer inward, like on the consoles. I guess it's a personal preferance, but we won't be moving it, it took us enough weeks to get everything aligned where it is now

Well, if you know what " CMT " means, you'll understand that they won't use those. (Notice Custom Map Team? )


It originally stood for conversion map team (just thought you should know that cos their 1st maps were just complete rip sof halo 2 content)

I'm going to assume you're a newbie to the history of the port and terminology, as PC is what comes on the disk you buy and CE is what you play custom content on.

No, CMT could not potentially be a reason why Custom Edition "became more adored".
As the person who originally went around to new places, including here, to inform people about the first complete single player modification I'll agree that CMT drew a lot of people who previously didn't know about Custom Edition in. Those people do not adore CE because of CMT, they just adore what CMT made.

The average age of the CMT fan is very low. At that age, all that matters is the cool-factor. Art direction, level design, and interaction have no impact on what CMT makes. Quantity > quality here and CMT provides it by redoing the existing single player campaign.

CE is adored because of what the HEK allowed us to do.
