I have an Idea of how members that have been here for a while can escape the stupidity of the newer members. What if a slightly off topic, but intelligent area was created for members that were here for something like six months or more. This way there is an area to escape form the stupidity of NM, which is beginning to invade the Flood, and still talk on somewhat off topic subjects. Does anyone else agree with me on this one?

No.

Just because you joined on April 4th, that doesn't make any difference compared to whether you had joined in December. There are lots of new members that post well and are intelligent. By saying that you are better then them because of your join date, well, that makes you as stupid as the "New Mombasians" (Of which there are intelligent people too).

I know that and I am not saying that all new members are bad members and are stupid, but there are more less intelligent posts from newer members than there are from older ones. Sure it would be great if all intelligent posters could have a place to go and not have to deal with stupid people, but there is no easy way to judge intelligence without it being the MODs' full time job. I know the idea has it's flaws, but the fact is almost all long term members post intelligently and the majority of the stupidity comes from newer members. This is not a perfect idea, but it might help in some ways.

Yeah, let's all be stuck-up elitists. Let's all discriminate against people that might be twice as intelligent as us, but have been around for only a day or two.

There's a line that has to be drawn when this elitism goes too far, I think this is it.

You could make a group and only let people in that had been a member for that long. Your idea of filtering out dumb posts is a good idea but there is no clear cut number like join date that filters out stupid posts. Its a noble idea put impossible to execute. The easiest way to make the forums better is to post on intelligent threads. When you get on a stupid thread and call him a spammer or try to tell someone he's wrong and halo 2 doesn't suck you just keep his thread at the top of the forum. I know its hard to not to post on bad threads to tell the guy he is wrong because I often do because I can't help myself. If everyone didn't post on stupid posts then only the stupid people would post on them. I'm happy to say that the smart people on this forum greatly out number the less intelligent. For this reason the less worthy posts would go down to the bottom of the forum lists where they belong.

If find your post good hearted and it doesn't seem to have an elitist air to it. When I think elitist I think of secret societies secretly manipulating contries to war to reduce the population of the world. The other thing that I think of has to do with politics and thats not allowed what a shame.

Or you can have people send requests to a group for invitism and the group or panel reviews that persons posts and intelligence. Like a filter.

Yeah, sorry guys. I just thought it might help. I just see some of these dumb topics and get really mad. It was just an idea......I know it wouldn't do any good. I just want the old Flood back.

I think the Flood is only as bad as a number of users there are making it out to be.

-Quaere verum.

Got a report? Use the report tool or send a pm.
Chairleg Productions presents: 'Console Wars' and 'Games as Art?' (also on Halo Waypoint).

For all people who want to muck around there is 'The Flood 'section of the forum.
Others are more than welcome here in my opinion.

The stuck up elitists who want an exclusive forum should start a group. Ta-da! Problem solved!

The fact is there will always be new members, and always be dumb posters. So you have to just deal with it, and try to make them better, or you can do what your talking about and shut them out. But, remember if you do that they will never get better, I say what you need to do is try to influence these new members and teach them the ways, instead of shuting them out. Obviously not all will see eye to eye wiht you, but thats ok, everyone is entitled to thier own opinion, and you should accept that, but it doesnt mean just cause they think differently you have to shut them out, it means you have to work with them, but it seems noone is willing to that anymore, its a pity really.

Not everyone can be smart as you think you are. You just have to be patient with them. If you shut out all the new members, then they would never get a chance to prove themselves to be something of worth. Besides, if you were shut out from something you wanted to be a part of, how would you feel?

Stupider than the irregular spelling of "something" in your signature?
