Call me old-fashioned or whatever you like, but I prefer the d-pad to move rather than the joystick. Is this goning to be possible in Halo 2? I just can't get used to playing with the joystick. PLEASE tell me if its gone.

I don't think so, I think they might end up using the d-pad for other controls, but this is only a thought or rumor.

You might be able to configure them yourself, it's not known yet.

For the duel weapons your just going to use the left and right trigger, and not be able to throw a grenade, so I doubt that the duel weapons will have any thing to do with the d-pad.

Can someone just please answer my question. What do you think the odds are of no d-pad movement? Honestly.

What do you mean? Will there be no d-pad movement or will there be d-pad movement? Which is it?

There are 10 kinds of people in the world: those who know binary, and those who don't.

hey dumbass! does it look like we work for bungie? no. then y are u asking us. we dont kno. u can only get specualtion here because as of yet, i'm ot even sure bungie knows if they're gonna use the dpad for sumthin else(although for this far into the developement it'd be pretty bad if they didnt). but u get the idea. the forums are for people to speculate. so y are u asking for a definite answer? no one is goin to be able to give u one. so stop ur whining. and i'd get used to the analog stick. ps. how do u crouch if u dont use the stick? for all intents and purposes it is more effective to just use the stick. trust me.

I think that the d-pad is going to be used to order your marines around. aren't they supposed to be able to give you ammo and throw grenades on command? (In the e3 demo the chief stops against the wall and you hear the marines acknowledging "frag and clear!" before they move in). there really isn't anywhere else to put those type of controls because you will probably have a few options.

I believe the marines ability to know when to throw a frag or help you out is based on A.I. Because in the E3 demo when MC is at the gunner shooting in the street, a marine tells you to shoot to your right cause baddies are there. That takes A.I. capabilities cause the levels will be different ever time.

the D-pad will be used to look around corners, as you saw in that scene in the E3 trailer when a bunch of marines were behind the walls on either side of an alley while grunts and jackals and to look around the corner the chief leans over to look at them and then a marine throws in a shock nade.

To be honest, and no offense to you, but I really hope that they use the D-pad for means other than movement. I don't understand how they'll map all these controls changing it.
