Bungie i was thinking about how you have done auctions to help raise money for you but also to donate to cancer research and other places and you have done pretty well about it, well anyways i was thinking of an idea of how you can make a lot of money that benifits you and halo 3 players.

ok im new and i dont post on the forums but plz here me out. Everyone complains about the recon armor and they wont leave you guys alone about it so i thought of a solution. Since you have control over the armor why not put a set of armor up for auction on ebay once a week or something within that feild that starts at a bid of around 10 dollars, and since it would be ONE armor set once per week you would have thousands of halo 3 players bid upon it which could result in a lot of money. because if you think of it, if it sold for an average of about 20 dollars and you sell 10,000 armor because thats all you want to sell (and trust me it will sell) than the resulting money would be about 200,000 dollars.

to me thats a lot of money. and since there are over 1 million halo 3 players each day if you took half the players (lets say 500,000) and you multiply 20 times 500,000 you would result in more than10,000,000 dollars. and since the armor is such a wanted item i believe that the armor would sell for more than 20 dollars if it is up for bid. so i just wanted to give you the idea and if you have any questions or something please send me a message.

also everyone please help me get this idea spreaded out by commenting and having people read it to tell me what you guys think. Thank you for reading and please comment and tell me what you think =D

also another idea for them would be raffleing it off. lets say that they have a monthly raffle of about 100 people or more that enters a raffle with an entry fee of about 10 dollars and they raffle off 10 sets of armor that could also be another good idea

You know, I haven't seen such a mature article on recon armor like this before, nor have I seen an idea this good on B.Net in a while. You have a really good idea there, though I'd see it as more a once or a month or longer sort of thing.

You seem to have very good intentions, however discussion of this armor variant is not allowed on the forums. Normally I'd say that selling it would ruin the specialness of the armor, but I don't want to seem like somebody that doesn't care about cancer -_-

I commend your idea though.

lol, ignore tehviruss.
A good recon thread is entirely acceptable. ( as long as evilcam is in a good mood)
Anywho............Are you suggesting that bungie make some profit from this or that they donate it all to charity. Because I don't think they will give up recon, even for charity. But of course they will make it look like they would do it, but they can't because maybe someone broke the "i can haz recon ?...YES" button on the webmasters computer and the spare part needs to be sent from singapore , or maybe they are too busy with not doing halo 4 or maybe some other excuse. w/e Maybe I am just too pessemistic about bungies supposed goodwill. just ignore me too.

Realistic ? Cynical ? There isn't much difference. And the world isn't actually made up of nice people. If it was, then charities wouldn't even need other people to orginize their fundraisers.
If I am realistic i can say that bungie might only be supporting the Katrina relief or other charities to gain fan loyalty. If I am cynical i would say that they definately are doing it for fan loyalty. That is the difference between being cynical and realistic..

All I'm going to say, is that some people (maybe even a number of people at Bungie) choose to donate for better reasons than public relations.

Maybe they did, maybe they didn't. You can't know motives for sure unless you are that person. There can always be another layer to a decision. And the smile can always hide lies.
That is realistic.

Even with this "realist" point of view, you can appreciate blademaster09's idea as means to an end for a charitable cause.

Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

I like this idea, but I worry that it goes against the idea of the Recon Armor in general. The Recon is handed out for contribution -- allowing somebody to just buy it at auction basically shuns the portion of the community comprised of those who love Bungie and Halo but cannot afford to spend their money on pointless things like Recon armor, and favors those people who, either through their own means, or through their parents, have money to burn. Yes, the cause is good, but there are better ways to raise money for charity in my opinion.

Very good idea, but I also think that selling the armor would ruin its special value to players.

Agreed completely, a Halo tournament with recon armour up for grabs and a £5 entry fee would be much more efficient.

However if I remember correctly the Mister Chief picture on Ebay also came with Recon armour for the highest bidder so in theory this idea of "burning money" has already come into the equation. But why not let the world be helped because people are greedy and obsessed with recon armour? I think this idea would be good provided recon isn't given out en masse so we get the snobby people parading around on XBL.

New Flood the home of all things random

OMG, gaming for the fun of it.

I think this is a decent idea, as long as the proceeds are for charity and they don't do it regularly.

Well on my old mmorpgs that I created we used to give, out unique items for donations that we would receive from players... But bungie don't have enough time to do this every time someone donates.
I think it should not revolve around money. But how you help the community and bungie out. Yet I think this is just another scheming try to get a unique items on halo. Plus if they started giving out cool unique items every day or 100 times a month there would not uniqueness left... Give it up about the unique armours! I think everyone is getting sick of this on going annoying topic.

Ostrich I really wanna sig you, but need some fresh stuffs.
So make with the funneh.

Bitch don't tell me what to do.

They did give away recon with the painting that Frankie made. Just look how much money was raised. I don't think it is a good idea to auction off recon. Since it has to be earned not just bought from ebay.
