My friend, you would not tell with ſuch high zeſt
To children ardent for ſome deſperate glory,
The old Lie: Dulce et decorum eſt
Pro patria mori.
My single piece of advice is thus:
* Make sure that your chapter's core membership is decided IN ADVANCE. If the nucleus of your chapter is a group of six or se7en content producing activity maestros, you'll find yourself swamped with join requests. Two or three members will have a much harder time meeting what I have termed "Activity-Membership Critical Mass".
AMCM is characterised by the following variation and sollution to the Solow-Swan growth accounting methodology;
Y = M^[1-a] . C^[a] . X
Where Y = Output, M = Membership, C = Content, X = "Oomph Factor" and a = the diminishing returns associated with content replication.
As you can clearly see, you will need to strike an optimal balance between content production and membership; however any shortcomings in those can be offset by a sufficiently large "oomph factor". The critical mass component comes from the variable status of a at different values of Y. Essentially, a system of four equilibrium points exists on the plotted graph; zero, Y1 and Y2 and Y3. Zero and Y2 are unstable existing at the top of potential hills, whereas Y1 and Y3 are stable existing at the bottom of potential valleys. You need to push your groups output beyond the Y1 equilibrium to the Y3 equilibrium, to ensure a decent return to your time/effort investment.
[*Wonders if anyone can tell he's just sat his Macroeconomics exam...*]
