If someone could help me out these questions I have, it would be very much appreciated.This should probably be in the chapter founders thread but they look pretty busy so maybe someone else could help me?

I'm thinking of maybe starting a new group (chapter) soon, but don't know too much about it, I would be very commited to it but don't really have the know how about it to start one just yet. I will ask more in-depth questions later on, but for now does anybody have any advice or needed info they think I would want to know?

(I'm probably not going to start a new group for about a week atleast).

Yes a very decent start, thanks! If any body else or even you again impurity has any more advice or info that would be appreciated.

And another thing once you create a group, can you later delete it in some way?

If your group starts out slow then speed it up by asking many people to join

Hi you're a member of my group aren't you? Anyway, see if you can find my post in Classifields entitled "TIPS FOR GROUPS" or something like that. It may be few pages back by now as it's been swamped by clan adds. (Page 7 at the moment)

Sure - just boot everyone and then leave yourself.

Remember me?, well I've got more questions.

1. I have heard about these things that are like RPG things that you do in writing, just wondering if anyone can explain these to me and if they think they are good for a group?

2. Does anybody know anything about being able to get XBL with an ADSL broadband cable?

ADSL is DSL, not cable. Please decide how you're connecting to the internet before you ask us how to connect to XBL.

I obviously don't know much about it but I have broadband on the computer and I have been told that you can not get XBL with that kind of broadband, I think it runs through the phone line, I do not know much about all this but would someone try to shed some light on this matter?

Anyone?

My single piece of advice is thus:

* Make sure that your chapter's core membership is decided IN ADVANCE. If the nucleus of your chapter is a group of six or se7en content producing activity maestros, you'll find yourself swamped with join requests. Two or three members will have a much harder time meeting what I have termed "Activity-Membership Critical Mass".

AMCM is characterised by the following variation and sollution to the Solow-Swan growth accounting methodology;
Y = M^[1-a] . C^[a] . X
Where Y = Output, M = Membership, C = Content, X = "Oomph Factor" and a = the diminishing returns associated with content replication.
As you can clearly see, you will need to strike an optimal balance between content production and membership; however any shortcomings in those can be offset by a sufficiently large "oomph factor". The critical mass component comes from the variable status of a at different values of Y. Essentially, a system of four equilibrium points exists on the plotted graph; zero, Y1 and Y2 and Y3. Zero and Y2 are unstable existing at the top of potential hills, whereas Y1 and Y3 are stable existing at the bottom of potential valleys. You need to push your groups output beyond the Y1 equilibrium to the Y3 equilibrium, to ensure a decent return to your time/effort investment.

Well, I DO know the Solow-Swan [aka neo-classical] growth accounting methodolgy and if that makes me a nerd then so be it... but I WAS also playing about with you. Still, I had a point, which was nestled within the post.

Essentially, you've got three medium-term outcomes for your group. It can either fail utterly, it can maintain a steady-state equilibrium with a moderate number of members, or else it can grow to reach some kind of saturated maximum.

You need to choose whether you want option two or three.

That's all well and good, but my main question was about these RPG's that you can play over the net, like with typing and stuff, I don't know anything about them and would like to try to get a little educated on them so I can decide if they suit my group or not, so if anybody knows anything about them please explain :)

Well, effectively they're fictions, stories that your members choose to play along with. Each person creates a character for themselves, and through the interactions with the players and the 'dungeon master' figure, who creates random, or incidental events, you've got yourself a Role Playing Game.

ACS? is that the chapter founders?

Actually ACS is a help chapter the JAF(Just another fan) has started. Alot of the CFounder Staff make up that chapter. As for the CFounders that is a help group for all chapter admins and you should be able to go there to get plenty of help and advice from othe Chapter Adminstrators and founders such as Mr.Smiley the founder of the sucessful Mr. Smiley's XB0X Lounge. Look there for tips and advice.
