Destinypedia - The Wiki for Bungie's Destiny

Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

As I write this, the following threads are currently wasting space, time, and brain cells on the front page of the Halo 3 Forum:

Sign here if you currently have a high K/d
Sign this letter to Bungie
Sign Here When You Have a KILLIN' F-R-E-N-Z-Y!!!
Sign Here If You have an Extermination
Sign here when you get atleast a Running Riot

Many, many other various "Sign Here" threads can be found throughout the forum. Sign here when you: are a brigadier or general; play as an Elite; play as a Spartan; have gotten a double kill; have gotten a killtacular; have gotten a sniper double kill with one bullet; if you are sick of Halo 3 complaints; etc.

These threads contain zero discussion, except the occasional flame of the OP or other posters. They add nothing to the forum and are a major waste of space. They are not technically against any of the current forum rules, which is why they are in such proliferation. These threads are more useless than threads discussing Recon armor. And in my opinion, they should be disallowed.

My question is, why do I have to wade through a bunch of threads that I never open and go to page 3 to find any topics of use? Is there any reason that these threads add anything at all to these forums? Does anybody agree that a rule should be made against these threads?

I always hated you the most.

C'mon foman, you know exeryone gave up on the Halo 3 forum along time ago. Anyways in all seriousness, you are right. Everytime I decide to peak into that forum to see if anything good is going on, its always sign here for this and that. I definetly wouldn't mind if those threads became restricted.

And the Shadow fell upon the Land, and the World was riven stone from stone. The oceans fled, and the mountains were swallowed up, and the nations were scattered to the eight corners of the World. The moon was blood, and the sun was as ashes. The seas boiled, and the living envied the dead. All was shattered, and all but memory lost, and one memory above all others, of him who brought the Shadow and the Breaking of the World. And him they named Dragon.

Signed.

Seriously though, I agree with you. Then haven't really bothered me, but they're really just a waste of forum space.

IMO theres already a rule against these kind of things, no threads or posts regarding individual users....thats atleast how I would excuse the locks/warnings/bans.
These threads are of no relevance at all and is only a chance for some members to flame others for not being, subjectively, as good as them.

They need to end and be locked. All except the sign here when you finish the fight.

And can someone lock these multiple rate the above users x that we have like 3+ of the exact same 1.

Trying something once will increace your chances of success, because you tried it. Try someting twice, and your chances increase yet again - seeing as you've done it. Try something a few thousand times, and your chances of success is exponentially increased; this increase would likely provide success every time

They will die eventually, remember the 'Rate the _______ of the person above you!' threads? The situation seemed dire then as well. Basically, what I am trying to say, is that it is just another fad going around. Yes, there is no discussion, and yes they add nothing to anything. I do agree with you though, the threads should be locked and any further ones locked as well.

Edit: And can someone lock these multiple rate the above users x that we have like 3+ of the exact same 1.
Were you here a year or so ago? The flood was literally filled with them; had to go back to page four or five just to see some threads worth looking into. It was a little worse than the sign here threads now; just a little.

If you ask me, the fact that all of them contain "Sign here" and the same set-up makes them all repeat topics and lockable under that same rule. Just like Recon Threads regardless of whether it's who should get it, why someone should get it, who deserves it, why can't we all have it are all lockable under the same offense.

Hello Rokit.

I hadn't been in the flood except for within the past month. Lots of morons in there.

EDIT - OMG LOOK AT THIS 1

I remember when I used this space to put cool looking links to my chapters back in the day. I don't even know why I'm using it now. Why are you even reading this? You must be interested in me. Still reading?

I agree with you. Seriously, what does posting *signs* do? I really think it is a thread created by a user to get a large number of posts. Almost every post is a short one-liner (one-worders, usually) and are not helping towards any type of discussion. I guess it should be against the rules, if not, it is simply annoying.

SIGNED

I hate them.

Finished the Fight was okay, but now they're getting ridiculous.

Yep recon that 1 thread is the exception, now please go lock all the rest.

  • 02.26.2008 4:42 PM PDT

Most of them tend to break the rules anyways.

I am a penguin. Every day I boogie on down to the water, and eat fish. Once, while fishing in the deepest depths, I saw great Cthulhu... And he said to me "Shine, to thine own self be true. They can't tell you what to do once you've gone guru." Also, I should tell you, "slide".

Well you have to understand Foman, the children lost in those Halo 3 forums are trying to make conversation... and they only know two things; that they want recon armor, and that their thread will garnish some attention with the addition of "sign here".

Now lets think about who would be attracted to the two types of threads mentioned above. Other children. It sort of works like a filter (wading out mature, intelligent posters in some ass-backwards sort of way) and attracting their own kind... Not unlike the howler monkey, one makes a call to it's own kind in a large new world.

It is the "sign here if you can tie your own shoes like a big boy" threads that tend to grind on me.

I hate those! They make me self-conscious about my velcro shoes.

I'm working on mastering the bunny ears now.

I literally saw one that said, "Sign here if ur a General and you didn't boost."

Nobody who posted in the thread was a General.

I go to the Halo 3 Forum. Albeit, just to laugh at fools and make sure the Report as Spam button actually works......

Well, considering the fact that we have one of these stupid threads going on right now in the Septagon forum, I believe we should take action against them.

Sometimes I just go to the Halo 3 Forum just to report threads, most of the time there is nothing worth reading anyway.
