I am a penguin. Every day I boogie on down to the water, and eat fish. Once, while fishing in the deepest depths, I saw great Cthulhu... And he said to me "Shine, to thine own self be true. They can't tell you what to do once you've gone guru." Also, I should tell you, "slide".

I'm a little disappointed Foman himself hasn't posted much on his own thread.

There are many threads that I find are useless on bungie forums.. and I agree with the OP. But I find that if I tried to respond to all of those types of threads I wouldn't have time to respond to the threads that actually had merit.

Sorry, busy day at work. Anyway, it's not my thread -- I just got the discussion started.

There's not much to say except to respond to the "why bother with the Halo 3 Forum anyway" comments. A little off-topic, but I actually love discussing Halo 3 when it can be done in a reasonable way. I do it in several of my groups and on the Halo 3 Forum when I have the time. I also think that the Halo 3 Forum is not beyond all hope, and I'd love to see it returned to a place where interesting discussions are much easier to find. The "Top Topics" sidebar has helped, and I think that disallowing pointless no-discussion threads such as "Sign Here" would also help.

My question is, why do I have to wade through a bunch of threads that I never open and go to page 3 to find any topics of use? Is there any reason that these threads add anything at all to these forums? Does anybody agree that a rule should be made against these threads?
Besides getting the community involved by posting in these so called "sign here" more or less popular threads, they do not provide an actual distinct discussion topic or purpose for that matter. So therefore, according to the forum rules, if a thread is created without the intention of having a discussion purpose, but rather to become popular or gain attention, it is considered spam.

Spam, regardless of the situation or circumstance, is not allowed or should not be allowed because it violates the rules and standards that are set for us on this site. But I must say that we are the ones who made it a problem to begin with. If we as a community want to make them stop, we should act upon that by reporting these threads instead of replying; and afterwards just moving on to a topic of better interest, in which you can contribute your say.

OMG, gaming for the fun of it.

It's a shame they don't try and add some discussion to them, like ''sign here when you get overkill and then say how'' then at least it would be a little more interesting and would help those you don't have these things ways of getting it.

I know that doesn't work for every example, but at least it gives some substance to the topics.

To be honest I leave this threads up to discression. As Recon Number 54 said NOT ALL of the threads which are sign here orientated are bad. It is very hard to call and I think a complete kill of the thread topic wouldn't be entirely helpful.

My response is "report as spam" and let the ninja take out the "sign here if you can tie your own shoes like a big boy" threads.

So I think Jun's a master chef, because he takes off his helmet and your like whoa, I think he's a chef.

So to shorten this up, Jun is master chef.

I agree. Many, many useful threads go unnoticed in the Halo 3 forum. A "ban thread" button for moderators is badly needed. Just click that button and it locks the thread and bans everyone. It would greatly help and I don't see why it hasn't been implemented yet.

I totally agree. I actually go into the H3 forum regularly, and there really are some ok discussions happening there. The problem is that the forum is completely spammed all the time. Just because there are a lot of people who are new to the site in that forum doesn't make it bad - in fact, some of the most interesting discussions (in my opinion) happen there. And, it only is beyond all hope if people abandon it and let it atrophy.
Onto the main topic, though - I wish the "sign here" posts were locked. Some are ok, but at this point, they are mostly spam. "Sign here when you get 4k stickies and are at least a level 37 in more than 2 playlists - LEGIT."
I try to report as spam, but the powers that be must not agree.

Actually Yoozel hates these threads aswell, in my eyes these idiotic threads should be locked and the creator should be blacklisted.
