Ok here is my question that I'm sure is either answered somewhere else or has been answered before.

How does bungie pick its favorites list?

Is it a random thing, does someone sit down and pick em, or are they done by their popularity. I just started adding maps and pics to the community forums so I was curious about this. Thanks for being patient with a computer illiterate person.

Mostly it's due to randomness.

Honest answer: Nobody knows.

Logical Answer: Bungie employs slaves to search through every item 6 times.

Then there are the people who poop in the mash potatoes. Those people get launched out on their asses.

Without stepping on anybodies toes, I think it is a bit random. I have seen some pretty questionable pics and such

OMG, gaming for the fun of it.

I'm guessing someone has a look every so often and picks out the ones they like, not necessarily the best or most downloaded.

Well thanks guys, I kinda had a feeling it was a pretty random occurance. And thanks for not treatin me like an idiot, I've only posted on 2 other forums and when it came to questions like this everyone who replied treated me like an idiot and I got no real answers. So Kudos to you guys for being decent.

It is pretty random, if you have a popular clip or what not and it gets passed around a lot and bungie sees it and likes it you have a descent chance to get onto favorites.

sir_brilliant: Meowth, that's right!

There's a special algorithm used that involves the circumference of Ling-Ling's head and the dimensions of the original box to Soffish,

So when those figures got lost (Stosh's fault, mainly) they just turned to randomness

Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

It seems that it's only random to a certain extent. Extremely popular screenshots and maps tend to make it up there with regularity, such as the MLG gametypes and the amazing "Tribute to Iwo Jima" screenshot. For others, the randomness comes into play to the extent that Bungie is unable to look at every single screenshot and map, but they do take a look from time to time. Whenever they happen to be looking, if they see a screenshot they like, they'll put it up. But don't think that an awesome screenshot or map or gametype or video is subject to complete randomness. If it is truly great, then it has a pretty good chance of making it up there.
