When are we going to see fire grenades in Matchmaking?
Fire grenades are a huge performance hog – so while they’re a fun addition to Customs, they would cause significant horror in a big matchmaking game. That’s not to say you never will, but in this case the downside outweighs the benefits.
Nice to see that you guys justified why we don't see fire grenades in Matchmaking, but what about all those other weapons; where's the Beam Rifle, Carbine, Fuel Rod Cannon, and heck while I'm at it, the Sentinel Beam? If looking at the weapon layout in Ghost Town tells me anything, it is that we're going to be seeing the same default weapons in the other dlc maps as well. That's my assumption anyways. While I'll keep in mind that some weapon/object placements could change, more and more I'm seeing that all the maps are too similiar with their weapons and vehicles. While Halo 3 has all these new vehicles and weapons, it seems like every map has the same set of default weapons. What's the point of releasing new maps, when we're going to be seeing the same stuff and getting bored of it after a while?
That is a separate issue - it's a memory budget decided on a per map basis. Again, these things are compromises yes, but they exist for a reason. If we COULD include every weapon on every map, we would - and in fact that would make our job easier. Unfortunately, it's not that simple.
That's understandable. It would be pretty chaotic with every weapon on every map. My question to you guys is if it would be possible for you guys to mix up the default weapons on the next dlc maps? Instead of let's say the mauler, the flamethrower, or instead of the rocket launcher, the fuel rod cannon. Would that work?
