This is Bungie.net we don't have emotions we are aware of.

Sarcasm doesn't come with a certain face.

Truer words were ne'er spoken.

Huzzah to you sir.

I said "maybe" because I HATE the things but I don't mind others' moderate* use of them.

*very rare.

Uh... no. Sorry, but Bungie looks more mature and clean this way.

I wouldn't use those words to describe B.net, but yes, it is much better than it would be if they did have emotes.

Well, the look of the place is more of a clean and stable one. Whether the bowels and substance are comparable to the layout is hardly debatable, that I will definitely agree with you on.

emotes=epic phail.

plain text is a tad harder to be original and entertaining with, thus the truly entertaining and sarcastic among us have a shot at getting their comments out there, without being drowned in a sea of badly typed and formatted posts littered with emotes. Here on b.net, they only have to battle an endless sea of badly typed and formatted posts minus the colors and weird shapes. huzzah. :)

I don't think they would put that in. In a matter of fact I remember hearing someone from Bungie saying they won't put in emotes.

Just like they took out this from the past.

LMFAO, maybe B.net should have a "Emotes off" button, dunno where to put it though! LOL.

I am a penguin. Every day I boogie on down to the water, and eat fish. Once, while fishing in the deepest depths, I saw great Cthulhu... And he said to me "Shine, to thine own self be true. They can't tell you what to do once you've gone guru." Also, I should tell you, "slide".

Honestly, the further this looks from vBulletin the better. Emoticons and Obnoxious sigs? Good riddance.

Please no. They're hideous. ... /hypocrite ;)

No thank you, sir. Rare is content with his text-based shenanigans. ;D

  • 03.05.2008 6:43 PM PDT

No thank you. Having a bunch of different emoticon symbols would get old really fast because a lot of users would undoubtedly take advantage of them and sprinkle their posts with multicolored symbols which aren't really all that attractive.

I don't think it's something that we really need, and other forums that support them seem cluttered to me in comparison to these forums, which do not. A text-based format isn't that boring, you know :|

Frankly, I think the pure text emoticons are more expressive than little .gifs.

They are absolutely not needed. We've survived this long without them, and if you do need one, you can still use the ol' colon and parentheses.

Speak for yourself, I know two members that shot themselves because of the lack of emoticons here on Bungie.net.

  • 03.05.2008 6:45 PM PDT

Personally, I think emotes look silly. If I could, I would turn them off in everything that uses them. : and ) the win!

I'm a serious dude, so what?

i think a few simple line, black and white emotes would be cool. i can't tell how many times i've wanted the eyeroll emote. maybe a contest is in order? winner is whoever has the most Bungie.net-friendly emotes. and if no one comes up with anything worth putting up, then that's how it stands.

Emotes are an immature and annoying tool.

In short, no.

There. I ate them.

We can bring this up again when we find them in the sewers. Except they'll have all turned into XD emoticons by then.

Mourne not your comrades who must dwell / too strong to strive -
Within each steel-bound coffin of a cell, / Buried alive;
But rather mourne the apathetic throng / The cowed, and the meek -
Who see the world’s great anguish and its wrong / And dare not speak.

This sums up my opinion pretty well.
