I believe it's a problem with your and/or his networking.

I've had this happen tome when playing Double Agent and COD4. I found that my NAT was indeed strict when I thought it was open. I'd double check your NAT and if it is open; Check to see if youur routers ports for Xbox Live are open. That's if you have a router that is. If you're directly connecting to your modem, ask your friend to double check his settings.

The only other thing I can think of is that Xbox Live doesn't want you to have fun ^_^

i have one friend that can't get into my party. his gamertag is Blai2ing1.

when i try to join his party, it says we have incompatable networks, mine is set to OPEN NAT and so is his, but for some reason we can't join each other's party.

if i'm with in a mutual friends party, and he joins, i get booted out of the party and vice versa.

if he's in a party with any of my friends, i can't even see the party details!

I've experianced a similar issue with a friend. It seems to be unsolvable. Good luck with yours, if yours gets solved let me know... maybe it will work for me too.

It is NOT unsolvable. It is quite simple actually. Im going to guess that both or one of you are using a DSL modem. Some DSL modems have kind of a built in 'router'. So this is what is happening: Your Xbox reads that the NAT from your Xbox to you router is OPEN. But behind your router, it can't see. So, that means your modem is giving you a strict NAT without you knowing it. Call your ISP and ask them how to put your modem in bridge mode and you're good to go.

Hope this helps,

Hurdle

Great, this happens to me, and that's exactly the case - DSL modem. What do you mean bridge mode? Will they know what that means, and will they be able to do it or will I have to configure my router?

They will know what it means. I basically bi-passes the router function of your modem all together. The reason they put it in there is so that people without routers will have protection from hackers, etc. But since you already have a router, it is just causing problems for you. Call them up and tell them you are having problems with your Xbox and you need your modem in bridge mode, if they don't know what you're talking about, then ask for somebody who does, or try calling the manufacturer of your modem.

Edit: Oh, and you'll have to do this yourself, they'll give you directions. Its just like logging into your router through a web browser.
