Out of curiosity, does anyone know if you can challenege a moderator's decision when they chose to ban someone or lock a thread, or blacklist someone?

Anyone know if/how this can be done?

Trying something once will increace your chances of success, because you tried it. Try someting twice, and your chances increase yet again - seeing as you've done it. Try something a few thousand times, and your chances of success is exponentially increased; this increase would likely provide success every time

Of course you can. Why wouldn't you be able to? All you do is either contact the moderator who made the decision or a master moderator.

Yes, just appeal to them or a higher ranking individual.

Can I report bad moderators?

If you feel that you have been wronged by a Moderator or have an issue about a Moderator that you would like to have addressed, your first step is to contact a Master Forum Ninja. After you have made contact with them, they will be able to take care of the issue, or advance it to Achronos.

What the hell guys?? First of all, it isn't necessary for eight people to say "play nice u hav no rights lol", and secondly, there is a moderator hierarchy for a reason.

I mean, chances are if it's your word against a mod's, they'll believe the moderator, but if the decision was blatantly inappropriate PM a master moderator. If you're still not happy talk to Achronos.

  • 03.03.2008 4:25 PM PDT

Yes, you can. I was permabanned, but through some hard work, I got unbanned. It was an accident while I got banned anyways. But remember, it is a dictatorship. Don't just wine saying you want unbanned. You need stunning evidence.

Good luck.

  • 03.03.2008 4:25 PM PDT

Of course you can! If you feel that you have been wronged in any way by a moderator, or feel that you should have a shorter ban, contact that mod or a Master Forum Ninja. That doesn't mean that you will have a shorter ban, etc. but it may help.

It was a cold day near the southern base in Blood Gulch. Cortana and I were relaxing over a game of Go Fish, WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE 700 BANSHEES CAME FLYING IN!!! I GRABED MY SPARTAN LASER AND LET HELL REIGN DOWN UPON THEM. I HOPPED IN THE NEAREST WARTHOG AND TOLD CORTANA TO GET IN.

Yes, the process is quite simple. You must clearly state "I challenge [Moderator's name]". Twenty paces, draw, and it's settled.

Reiginko, are you asking /b/ungie.net members to be original for a change?! :O

Usually, if you talk to a moderator about your blacklist and they have a change of heart, they'll have you unbanned. If you were banned for a blatant reason (trolling, flaming, etc.) they'll just tell you to enjoy your vacation. However, mods admit to being human, so of course they can make mistakes, but usually people wanting a ban overturned deserved it in the first place.

You can challenge a mod's decision, but you had better have proof and a good reason for doing so. Also, register complaints in the proper, mature, and respectful way, i.e. privately. First, PM the mod you have an issue with asking him about his actions. Most if not all of the mods will respond to your concerns. If for some odd reason that doesn't work (which I find extraordinarily unlikely), PM a Master Forum Ninja with the same respectful candor. The mods aren't perfect and make mistakes from time to time, but examples are exceedingly few and far between. No member is more aware of the rules than they are.

Taxes do nothing to affect the share of wealth, since taxes are only applied to income.

So that's not even a part of the conversation at all, so it's pointless talking about it....

"for a "best" moral to exist, there must exist the "best" moral base. If the base of morality varies from location to location, culture to culture...then there can't be an absolute moral..

from my own personal experience, yes and no. if you believe that you have been wrongly banned, then you can appeal to achronos for help. if he agrees that you are not guilty of violating the rule in question, then he may lift the ban. but, as far as i can gather (based on the brief comments made by achronos), that you were banned is not removed from your record, which leads me to believe that the wrongful ban will still affect your member title.

You can only challenge a Moderator's decision if it leaves you with over a 1 week ban/blacklisting. Thats what it told me when I felt I got a 1 week blacklisting for posting on a "Spam infested topic" for whatever reason that is. Point is post/play by the rules and you'll never have to worry about anything.

Blacklists 7 days or less are not able to be contested. Over that then you have the option to appeal... in all reality, unless we royally screw up or misclick (JAF!!!!!) then you're serving the sentence.

Yoozel pretty much nailed it. If you receive a temporary suspension for 7 days or less, they will not appeal your ban. However, if it is longer or if the issue is very important, you may talk to the moderator that banned you. They will most likely give you the reason as to why you were banned. If you still feel you have been wronged, you may contact someone at a higher position, such as a Master Forum Ninja or administrator. They will look into it, but if you did violate the rules, the ban would most likely stay. If you're lucky they might alter the ban duration.

Okay, so I have missclicked once, maybe twice (the spam queue took time to get used to, really)

Atleast I never blacklisted another moderator, or sent a warning to one because he thought that moderator was actually someone else...

I'm so taking this up to Achronos.

Lol. Overruled me thinks by teh Master Moderator Yoozel. I'm sure he will have forgotten this conversation by tomorrow after the alcohol wears off so I wouldn't worry.

In regards to the thread I have questioned moderators before and have been correct in my argument about things such as thread esculation and other problems. I only question when I have thought something through so it is very rare that I have anything to complain about because moderator judgement is usually spot on.
