An army of sheep led by a lion would defeat an army of lions led by a sheep.
The first thing we have to remember is that the presentation at e3 was a "demo". The demo was used to show off some new features, weapons, moves, etc.. It was by no means a final representation of Halo 2.
With that said.. Let the speculation commence..
I would actually prefer that bungie keep weapon selection the same as the original.
Two weapon slots. + Ability to dual wield certain weapons.
3 weapons CANNOT be carried as shown in the demo.
For me, the key would be simplicity, weapon balance, and fun factor.
Simplicity.. You can't get much simpler than the original. 'x' marks the spot. In Halo, you could pick up and cycle through your weapons with ease. Awesome.
Weapon Balance.. In terms of dual wielding, you want to make sure that it's worth while in a given situation. If the Battle Rifle replaces the pistol (3 shot kills), then how do we persuade others to pick up two weapons AND give up the ability to heave grenades at the same time? I know, you make dual weapon wielding a phone booth killer. In other words, dual weapons should be the way to go for up close and personal engagements with enemies and vehicles.
Fun Factor.. You want gamers to take advantage of every weapon in the game. You want them to see the bullets flying. You want them to hear the plasma burning. You want gamers to create their own display of fireworks with a nice blend of Covenant/Human artilliry firepower. You DO NOT want it to end up like Halo. Halo = Not enough fireworks. LOTS of blackcats, though. POP... POP.. POP.. : )
Oh, sorry, I got a little side tracked. :p My vote is for --> Only TWO weapons can be carried at any given time, regardless..
