Hi, I need some help I hope this is a good way to get it.
I’ve been playing Halo for some time now and I’m not exactly sure what to do for a particular problem I’m having.
I created my first X-box live account on a 360. I purchased 3 months of Gold, now I’m trying to recover my gamertag on my original X-box to play some Halo 2. When creating my gamertag on the 360 it never asked me for an Credit Card Number yet for some reason my X-box keeps asking me to give the number in order for me to recover the gamertag for halo 2. Is there something I’m missing because I’ve tried creating a new one and obviously my name has already been used because I already have a gamertag with bungie. Someone Please help me!

You don't want to play Halo 2 on your 360?

the Xbox needs a credit card because you can ONLY have a gold account on it.
Xbox 360 you can have a silver OR gold account.
Silver does not require a credit card because you cannot play online.

I'm so good at Halo, Chuck Norris has me as an avoided player.

Was the account a 30 day free Gold account? Then it would have lapsed into a silver, which doesn't exist in the Original Xbox world.

Well, sadly I don’t have a 360 with me at this point in time and I know my Gold Account doesn’t expire until the end of May. And since I used a prepaid card I didn’t have to use a Credit Card number. Does that card only work for live on my 360?

if you use someone else's credit card (with their permission) like your parents or someone else who would be willing to put their line of credit on the ...well....line for you, then you can use that.
Just make sure to cancel the subscription 48 hours before your 3 month subscription is up or the credit card will be charged for the next year of XBL service ($59.00ish)

Well, I could use my own credit card, which really wouldn't be a problem, it is just that at this point it is not in association with my gamertag. Would I have to add the number on a 360 account then go back and recover on my x-box?

ah, after more searching I found that I can change my payment method from my prepaid card to my credit card, however that would nulify they next two months I have left. Here is the link to what I found.

Should I just wait out the next two months, change it to my creditcard recover my gamertag on my original x-box? Ah, so frustrating. lol And all just to play halo online.

hmm..you may be able to add it when recovering on the orig xbox. (dont hold me to that)
If not you COULD always recover on a friends xbox..add the credit card...dleete the account from their xbox and THEN recover it on the orig xbox. I dont know if that would work..or if you would trust someone with your credit card info (kinda risky)

Try contacting XBL support to confirm and maybe there will be an easier way.
sorry I couldnt be more help

And also sorry for assuming you were a "kid" without a credit card (my bad)
