Bad idea. If Bungie included brutes (or hunters or w/e)they'd obviously have more health have a more powerful melee attack, right? And to make up for this they are really slow.

This would seriously take away some gaming experiance. Here's an example:

i don't like tthe slow clunky movemt of brutes. But, as I join this close quarters map(i.e. the teleport map on halo 1, name escapes me at the moment) as a spartan, i get slaughtered by everyone else that are brutes. The only way that i could stand a chance is by being a brute. But since I can't stand being one,i dont stand a chance on the map, so i never play the map.

that=taking away from the gaming experiance.

elites do not = ODST, the helljumpers lack an energy sheild. the elites and spartans are the only units that have a close match on the opposite side.

If they did allow these other characters in MP, then they would need to create an entirely seperate mode in MP. It would be kinda cool because it could turn into Wolfenstein style of gameplay. They could limit the amount of the stronger characters that would be allowed on the map to make it nessary to use the weaker characters such as grunts, jackals, and marines. They should also give these weak characters extra abilites similar to the ones found in wolfenstein. Grunts could carry med packs and ammo for covenant weapons while marines would carry med packs and ammo for human weapons. Jackals and another kind of marines would be the assassin/special forces and would be able to lay mines and other kinds booby traps and place explosives to blow up strategic points. Brutes and ODST's would be tough and would have the ability to call in AI backup on dropships or call for airstrikes
from orbit (archer missles and MAC rounds for the humans and a plasma bombardment for the covenant). While hunters and marines dressed in large Mark I exoskeletons (from FoR book) equipped with a large chaingun or rocket launcher would be heavy assault type units. All units would be able to drive vehicles except the hunters and Mark I marines. Also you could have some kind of mechanic Marine/Covenat engineer to repair damaged vehicles and turrets. Spartans and Elites would remain as they are.

Of course one would need absurdly massive maps for this to be effective but i think it has the potential to be really cool.

I don't understand why everyone's all bytchin so bad, no one's saying you have to play the game like this. If you want to play with MCs and Elites only, fine!

And as far as people saying the idea is stupid, well excuse me for trying to be creative instead of making what is essentially a rehashed Halo multiplayer mode with Elites that play almost exactly like the Spartans that you play in the original!

All that I'm suggesting is that Bungie should allow us to have a realistic war against the humans and the Covenant. A bunch of Spartan IIs taking on a bunch of Elites in a small enclosed environment doesn't seem too realistic to me. What we're asking for is a chance to fight in the war that we experience in the single player campaign. And while I know Halo 2 isn't going to have this, perhaps another game could have something like this.

In the end, all I'm asking for is a new experience and more levels of depth in the multiplayer game. All that Elites add to the game as far as I'm concerned is a new skin. That's about it. Adding more playable characters would allow us to strategically send in certain characters depending on the situation, like how Unreal lets you pick different classes on the fly. I'm not saying that Bungie should dump everything they're doing to make a new multiplayer mode. I'm saying that for the next game (if there is one) they could try and do this. I know Xbox Next/2/Whatever would be capable of it. It's just an idea okay?

I would really like to see different models for MP. I think they could keep the shielding enabled for all characters, even though in the story it might not make sense. Like I would love to play as a Marine in MP, but I don't want to lose my shielding either. Basically, everyone gets shields, and only the outer player model changes.

Although it would be funny to play as Cortana.

Spartan:Die AI die! Wait! The bullets are going right through her!
Cortana: Hehe... =BLAM!=

They have; it's called the 'campaign.'

I think he means in multiplayer.

I assumed he did. However, the fact remains that Bungie has given us ample opportunity to be a part of the Covenant and Human war.

Surely, but how much fun would it be if you could play against the Covies where you could choose the map, the weapons, etc instead of following a script?

I do not doubt that it would be fun nor deny the potential in the idea. I simply -- as I expressed on the first page, if I'm not mistaken -- feel that the best possible combination of characters has already been achieved in the Spartans and Elites.

Yeah, I guess I can understand that. While it might be fun to play as anyone, sometimes you need things to keep the game real, like not having any cheats in Halo 2.

An army of sheep led by a lion would defeat an army of lions led by a sheep.

You're missing one very important factor.. Brutes DO NOT have shields that recharge.

You were trying to hint that they were some type of indestructible vehicle. I don't think so..

wow there are a lot of people getting upset about the idea of adding more playable characters into the game for multi-player purposes. Why?

Personally i think it would rock to play as any of them, especially the grunt. No shields, half the health, small and fast. Plus being able to use any weapon in the game!!! Okay not everything i said was a possitive, but that doesn't matter to me. I'm not a wussy who is scared to get killed, it would be awesome to run in somewhere screaming like a "grunt" blast anything that moved and run away like a little "grunt"

The hunters would be cool to, no shields and boosted health. So what if they only have one gun, at close range they can "lock on" and ram people with their shields.

I don't know enough about brute, i assume that they have no shields, and i think they use a slug thrower type weapon...so i can't say it would be awesome to play as one of these, same with the prophets.

Jackals would kick much but with their shields. Of course they have about the same health as a grunt, but they can only use one handed weapons(because they are dual weilding a shield already) Can't you see how it would be awesome to play as a squad of jackals? Yoiu could cover for you friends litterally, especially in a tight formations.

what would unbalance any of these unfavorably? Nothing would. Oh my i went into a game where everyone is hunters and brutes. As the MC i can run circles around the hunters and peg them in the orange spot, wow that was tough. The Brutes again i don't know about but i'm sure there are tactics to use against them.

My final words are. It would be a lot of fun.

No, it wouldn't

Spartans vs. Elites = Fair balance

Spartans vs. Grunts = Spartans win

Whats the point in playing when your on the weaker side and have a major disadvantage? Its no fun and noobs will be either using their weakness as an excuse or bragging because they beat you using a more powerful character.

Halo is all about balancing the battle field and letting skill decide the champion. Why would they suddenly drop the one thing that made Halo great to amuse a bunch of grunt fans for a couple of minutes? Oh yeah! They're not, because its a ridiculous idea!

You don't compare Spartans to Grunts. Spartans = Elites

You compare something like Marines to Grunts.

Balance weapons, characters, and teams - and then try and tell me where the problem lies.
