Subject: Your Favorite Campaign Level?

Quite simply: what's your favorite Campaign level from Halo CE?

I'd have to say that mine would either be Truth and Reconciliation or AoTCR. Truth and Rec is cool because it takes place in two distinct locations and the combat is really fun because it's challenging to an awesome degree. AoTCR is also cool because it's massive and sprawling, you get to use a smorgasbord of vehicles and there's so many encounters that it ends up being a really long offensive.

In the end, I'd have to say AoTCR because of the vehicles -- tooling around in a Scorpion tank and then getting the Banshee for the first time were really fun.

The Maw, specifically for the driving sequence at the end./predictable

I really enjoyed Assault on the Control Room as well, for reasons you already stated.

For me, it's gotta be Two Betrayals. I love the mix of expansive areas with the close quarters. You got flood, covenant, sentinels, and every vehicle except the scorpion. Most importantly, no help is given, its just you and them. AOTCR is another great level but the amount of things added to it in Two Betrayals just makes it deeper.

You'd probably shoot back if i wasn't T-bagging your dead body.

The Maw, i love the legendary ending and the big warthog run at the end. Elites grunts hunters sentinals and flood are fun to kill too.

I always offer fair game and usually allow some "extermination" of my teammates. I think that anyone should be able to play Halo or any other game they please.

My favorite is The Maw. I like the warthog run and the armory area. I hate how the flood in the armory can be invisible.

Mine would probably have to be Truth and Reconciliation. The whole mission was just badass, and the end of the level had a pretty cool cutscene. 343 Guilty Spark stands out as well, just because it scared the crap out of me

Welp, if I have to choose, I am gonna go with Two Betrayals. You pretty much get the whole shebang there. Covies, Flood, battles against multiple vehicle types, inside, outside, tight quarters, expansive areas. The battle for the last Banshee that you need is a blast, there are so many ways to approach it, it never gets old. Sometimes I will die on purpose before a checkpoint just to re-fight it a different way. All in all, I just feel that level has the widest variety and encompasses the best of the gameplay styles. That is one of my favorite levels to use without ever driving a vehicle (although ignoring the Scorpion on AotCR is alot of fun as well, that following section of terrain, not using a tank or ghost, whew, yikes, not easy on Legendary! But the battles after, without the tank are a blast on foot!).

All my opinion.

Either the Library or 343 GS. Both have Flood and are a mix in gameplay.

  • 03.10.2008 5:44 PM PDT

The last one, the driving part is awesome.

  • 03.10.2008 7:51 PM PDT

Truth and Reconciliation-awesome battles, lots of sniper, had to protect marines and then use 'em, rescued Keys, and then make sure he lived...lots of fun

343Guilty Spark-scared the crap outa ya the first time you play it, introduces flood and sentials, again has marines in it that help a little, and is downright crazy.

The Library-run like hell, shoot like hell, kill like hell. hell on wheels.

Two Betrayals-By far my favorite, every type of enemy there is, and you just kill and kill and kill, then walk for a long time, kill in a valley, go back for ammo, then kill, banshee it up and beat the level. good times with two betrayals.

The Maw-who doesnt love the warthog race(i say race cause i play with my bro and we race to the finish)

I'd have to say AOTCR, because the part with the tank is really fun.

I agree on everything you mentioned. They truly were some of the best levels and my favorite campaign levels of the series. I might just have to go play them again since it has been awhile.

Two Betrayals.
I love how it brings you back to a familiar setting. But this time, with flood! Plus the whole level you have no one on your team, which makes you feel like a badass.
mgal3 described the level perfectly, I definentaly agree with him.

Two Betrayals.
For all the prior mentioned reasons.
The S really hits the fan, everything's in it...and close range shotgun on an Elite.
Flood are no more than a patience endurance test after that level.

I love Two Betrayals. T&R is good, too, but it's a bit more scripted and linear.

I recently posted that 2Betrayals is it for me, and this post wont change that, but I am putting a 1A vote in for Truth & Reconcilliation.

I have a habit of playing where I use the sniper rifle for the first part of the level only, then stow it with at least 46 rounds left for later. For the rest of the level up to the grav lift, I go with PP and needler or AR and ALOT of Plasma Grenades. The fun part of that is that if you take a 100 charge PP and a more than normally loaded Sniper Rifle with you up the grav lift, the ability to use the Sniper Rifle inside the ship JUST ROCKS! There is alot of ammo for it on the ship, and it is pretty wild to use it in the long hallways.

By having both for the first battles aboard the ship, the combo is badass against everything. I will use the PP and Plasma Grenades to take out the sword elites and save the sniper rifle to take out any that get too close, and the Hunters in a very sneaky manner. This usually leaves me with over 30 rounds for the work up to the hangar deck.

The rest of the level up to saving the captain the rifle only gets used to take out the invis elites in the detention cells. After that though, it is killer on all of the remaining elites!

Now, when I have only an hour or two to play, it is T&R and gettin snipe happy!

Why isn't this a poll?

tie between Assault on the Control Room and Two Betrayals. They are pretty close to the same, but Two betrayals has Flood. Which are complete win.

  • 03.19.2008 2:18 PM PDT

I am responsible for dividing the Covenant. I shall end this war.

4. T+R-2 distinct areas, night mission, cool ending

3. Pillar of Autumn-Great map, pretty cool on legendary. Oh yeah!

2. Keyes- Pretty fun, T+R but with flood, and when you start, if you look through the grate, KEYES IS RIGHT THERE! The whole mission is basically a circle. I divide the mission into 3 parts, and it's the second-hardest mission in the game.

1. The Library-The hardest mission in the game, I die for a checkpoint, figuratively and literally. It offers the shotgun, which kills any flood in 1 hit at point blank range.

I liked the Silent Cartographer from start to finish; I love the beach insertion and then driving the Hog around the island the most though.

I also like Assault on the Control Room as well. Mostly because of all the vehicles and just the mayhem that can go on during that.

Truth and Reconciliation was really fun for me as well, especially the first part where they start you off with the infamous sniper rifle. I carry that gun all the way through, just waiting to use the last rounds on the golden Elites that have the swords.

ARBITER, I CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S NOT BUTTER!!! WORT WORT WORT.

Pillar of Autumn was pretty good fighting all around. A lot of medium range stuff makes for a lot of good nade tosses and Assault rifle pounding.

Halo was a good one too, because you didn't have to go the Marines in any peticular order. And the map is pretty explorable beyond all that.

Truth and Reconciliation is sweet with all the sniping at night. And explorable. Sweet level.

Silent Cartographer starts out and makes me think of 'Nam, being flown in on Hueys. Such a great start to a level, to have the 'Nam start and then have a D-Day kind of fight go on. So many warthogs... so many Marines.. Great map, still get lost at the bottom haha.

AoTCR is amazing. I've played that thing at least 150 times. Never gets old. Especially all the rockets..

343 GS scared the sauce right out of me. Great level, but still scary.
The Library is so freakin' hard. All you start to care about is the next checkpoint. I still don't have it beat on Legendary.

2 Betrayals is so fun, but I always started the level over once I got to the Flood. Which means I played the first 20% of it... a lot.. at least 150 times too.

Keyes... never really like that unless I was messing with the Hunters in the water. And I could never get across the hole that it makes you fall down. Invisible barrier?

The Maw... the fighting is fun, but the driving is moderately good. I'd rather keep the fighting up.. I tend to kill all of the Flood in the Reactors room before moving on... it takes a while on Legendary.

I can't really pick a level as a favorite though.. I'd say I like the difficulty of the Library, though it's a bit absurd, especially when you get lost on Legendary...
