Casey's Rebel/New Republic fleet comes out of hyperspace after it left to regroup, get three fresh wings of B-wings, and one wing of the new K-wings. Bristling with concussion misslie launchers, proton torpedo tubes, two light turbolaser turrets, and many, many blaster cannons, these bad boys are tough, rough, and capable of dishing out some seriously heavy damage.
His fleet deploys its fighters to begin strikes on the damaged Borg ships, with the support of the Mon Cal cruisers. 10 of the 12 damaged cubes are destroyed, at the loss of 10 B-wings, 4 Y-wings, and 2 K-wings.
The Borg fleet begins moving in on Casey's forces. Borg transport onto one of Casey's MC-80 Home One-class cruisers, ironically named the Assimilator. Although resistance is stiff and many Borg casualties are taken due to the fact that they can't adapt to blaster fire, this fight was one of attrition. The Borg just kept coming and coming, whereas the MC-80's crew was limited. The five Jedi on board go into hiding while the ship is assimilated. They know that as long as they don't present a threat, they Borg will leave them be.
Meanwhile, Casey's fleet outmanuvers the more cumbersome Borg cubes and escapes, to count the losses and make repairs.
Today's losses:
10 B-wings
4 Y-wings
2 K-wings
One MC-80 Home One Class Battle Cruiser (captured), the Assimilator, and all hands, save for the five Jedi and a handful of the security team.
Ten Blockade Runners (heavily damaged)
One MC-90 Calamari cruiser, the Insurgent (moderately damaged)
Meanwhile, Casey sends half his Jedi one a group of Blockade Runners planetside. They make a very short in-system hyperspace jump in order to avoid the Borg forces, and enter the other side of the planet, continuing the rest of the trip by atmospheric flight. They safely make it to the Covenant/UNSC/Half-Life stronghold.
