Subject: Help with group activity

I am in need of help getting activity up in a group. I have tried PM's, games, ad's, and contests. There were even prizes in the contests, most of the time 1600 MS points was the top prize, and still nothing. Member count really doesn't mean anything to me, especially if the members are not active. I tried to do a search for this topic and came up empty. I also did some looking around in the Chapter Founders group and came up with nothing. I am out of idea's. I even thought about kicking any group member's that have not posted or logged in for the last three months. Any idea's, thoughts, or help would be great. Also I am just an admin in the group, I do not have total control over the group if that matters.

Edit: We pretty much talk about anything that has to do with gaming, for any console, so there really is not a shortage of topic's to discuss.

Hello.

Hey DR WE1RD, I see your problem. Your group needs a hook (in the wise words of Wu), something that will interest people into coming back. This can be anything from good content to unquie features. One thing I noticed was that your group was dedicated to gaming in general. Its' been done, what makes yours better than all the others?

Another thing that can generate interest is being more specific, if you have a group dedicated to a specific part of gaming this may interest people who also like (specificly) this aspect. This would give people a reason to come to you instead of a place that may have more broad focuses.

Hope you can get activity up.

That's the million dollar question for a Bungie group these days. basically you don't. 'You' don't get your members, your Group does.

Start with what you have already stated, continue it. You will gain members, however slowly. Then it's all about working on your chapter(group), keeping it fresh, and active. Word of mouth will spread the news, it will grow. Don't worry that you're not growing to 1000 members in one month, most of those "Super Groups" die and must be remade months later, and the same thing again occurs. Just try to make an interesting, original, and active community and over time it will grow.

A good staff is key to helping a group grow/ They need to be willing to work for the group while also participating in it's discussions. Members who join and see an Active forum, posts everyday, and many of the staff regularly active will be more inclined to stick around.

Otherwise; Groups are on a downer these days, the majority of B.net members don't even know or care of their existence. Just tough it out.

Make an Alliance with another group. You can play games between two.

I have a 200 member group, but we have a close alliance with an 800 member group that helps us get more members and we play with them often.
