Seriously, it has gotten to the point where entering a forum is like entering a loony bin. People do not know how to make a link or even italicize something. I think that before you are allowed to post a topic you should have to pass a test or something.

I think that text formatting is the least of our problems...

Yeah, I know what you mean, I think spelling should come first.

We might need to go more the source of this problem... like the logic of today's youth.

Hello.

Maybe, they should just have a New Members Guide when you first create an account. It will inform you on how to do things.

Thats just an idea. It can be improved to where it can help new members.

Of course, many will still not link or italicize things correctly, but it may still help.

The test thing sounds smart, but a little odd. But, you never know...

I think a better idea is being more constructive than destructive when telling someone they are hard to understand. Rather than saying "grammar" in a single word or mocking them by posting like they do, try suggesting that it was a bit hard to understand, so maybe running it through spell check and using punctuation on their next post would make it easier.

Most of the time I just see people here flame bad posters, without understanding that not everyone's first language is English or that maybe some people just aren't good with a keyboard.

Remember that foul words or blows in themselves are no outrage, but your judgement that they are so. So when any one makes you angry, know that it is your own thought that has angered you. Wherefore make it your endeavour not to let your impressions carry you away. For if once you gain time and delay, you will find it easier to control yourself.

With that said I find spelling and grammatical errors to be a minor issue on this or any other forum. As long as the poster can make him-/herself understood there´s in my opinion not a problem. Lets just take a second to consider who this is affecting the most. It´s most likely the person who isnt able to express itself the way he or she would have wanted to due to lack of knowledge related to spelling and linguistics in general.

However, things like 1337 and popular internet terminology should be frown upon. The use of this is highly intentional and is only polluting the english language and its vocabulary.

Being on the forums is kind of a test in an of itself. If you don't pass here, you get a small all-expense-paid trip via your local travel ninja. I think that's a waste of good resources. Jerks should be able to come here just as easily as anyone else. If they can't behave, then they can't stay.
