Lets see. The longest match I had was a 4 on 7 CTF Blood Gulch match. It was us "original four" versus seven other "hot shots". After three and a half hours, we won 10 to 0. Key to victory? One person does NOT stop running for that flag. One person alternates their defense by picking off their snipers and other random defenders. One person blocks off main entrance to base by getting a shotgun and pistol and killing all in sight. Last person (me) takes control of defense. Someone touches that flag, they go down quick. Keep vehicles away from their grasp (far far behind your base works pretty well).

Three and a half hours, highest amount of frags was. . . 278 if I remember right. Loved it

8 hours straight (9 at night until 5 in the morning). I swear to god. No shields, 3vs3 CTF Match, Sidewinder. 5 captures, our team held off the enemy for 4 hours straight, and then the enemy held us off for 3 1/2 hours, then it toook 1/2 hour for them to win, 5-2. It was the longest match I have ever played.

Longest was the 3 hours and 30 minutes (same as Deigo 73) but now it doesn't take the "origanal four" to take that long we have improved alot sence then and now it can be 3 on 7 and it is over in about and hour to 45 minutes

it was 278: Chad (it was second with 215 and the least deaths with only 45)

I tried a 4 on 4 CTF game at Sidewinder to 15 with teams as even as possible and the intent of playing all night, would have gone for an 8 on 8 but we get a network error every couple of hours (any suggestions on how to prevent that would be welcome). We got up to about 4 hours before one of the guys on the other team quit out, would have gone a lot longer if he hadn't messed it up.

Unfortunately, about 3 hours. 4 vs 4 on Sidewinder. Got a bit of a story to it.

I persuaded 7 of my gaming mates to try CTF. My mates loved Team Slayers so much and they found Capture the Flag matches boring. It was the first CTF most of my friends had really tried. I get bored of this CTF too, mainly because I am the only one going for the flag, the rest are acting like its an unlimited kills and running around the match in search of the enemy.

The enemy base was easy to infiltrate as no-one could care less about the flag. At the beginning of the game I secured a lead of 3 (out of 5 captures) and realised that I wasn't going to win over my friends with CTF, so I just joined the onslaught.

After about 1 hour 30 mins (2 hours into the game), I heard "Blue team, have the flag". Could it be? Is one of my friends so mind numbingly bored that he's gunna give CTF a go? Answer was yes, I saw him running for a Ghost (carrying the flag) at my base. I decided not to actually kill him, but send sniper trails his way to give him the feeling of running a flag home with the enemy on his back. I did this right along the map, it made my look like a crap sniper but I think it was worth it. He scored (3 to 1).

By the time I got back to my base 2 enemies stormed the base in a Warthog. Eventually I had all of my friends playing CTF rather than Slayer and it was a real CTF game. It did seem a little unfair that we had the advantage (3 to 1) but the other team seemed persistant to win.

We spent to last hour battling it out for each others flag. Eventually it was 4 to 3 (out of 5) to us. We did one last assault and got the flag, took it home and got the point. After the game I asked everyone what they thought of the game and they loved it. We played one more CTF on Blood Gulch and then finished for the day.

Now we play about 20% Team Slayer, 50% CTF, 20% King of the Hill and 10% Oddball. Its balanced out more too as everytime I introduce a new gametype they like it and end up wanting to play lots more.

Blood Gulch 4v5 i was on the four i got the flag they had ours too and i hid behind their teleporter on top of the base in plain sight and we had a sniper that shot any1 that was about to turn around another snniper looking for the flag guy and a warthog driver that was ready to pick any1 up atany time it lasted 2 1/2 hours of me behind the teleporter and someone finaly saw me and they won

The longest match I have ever played was two and a half hours. It was 8 vs 8 CTF ( 3 flag captures). My team eventually gave up and let the other team win ( we wanted to see the scores).

8 on 8 CTF capture the flag at sidewinder....3 hours...the best game i have ever played in. We were all at the same house and had system links on tv's where the smallest was 32 inches. We had walkie talkies for teammates in different rooms. Serious smack being yelled all game...i guarded our flag and no one touched it once...we won 3-0
