Mods on power trips crack me up.

Why cant bungie admit they got Halo PC very badly wrong and left it to rot?

an afk kick is a bad idea. maby a spectator setting, so you don't respawn automaticaly, and so that you can look around and stuff, but not gain/lose points for your team....
but everything else i fully agree with

Heyyo,

All great FPS games have an afk kick. Halo should be no exception.

If you're afk? you deserved to be kicked, and that's that. Sheesh, it's not like it's hard once you get back to join a different or the same server anywho...

Spectator mode? no, definately not. Bad enough on CS people spectate when they lose so they spectate until next map... ugh... not like next map you'll start to 'magically' play better anywho. :p

TK and AFK are highly needed. Ability to add in 3rd party mods n' stuff is a must too. In the source engine (used for hl2, css. etc) they kept this in their mind, now all mods to existing games are cool plugins. Just put them in the bin folder, type in the console plugin_load *name* and there ya go, done. Some great mods already, like a full admin mod (If only Halo had one...) Freakin' sweet. Votemaps for which map to play next, votekick so people vote if you want someone kicked for like 10 mins. and even better, revenge against tking. Usually there's 3 options: Forgive, make them die instantly, or blind them. On CS 1.6 there was cooler ones like, an announcer say "player *name* will blow up in 10 seconds" and it would count down and he'd explode into gibs, lol. There was also votekick option, and some cool ones like drug them so they start seeing stuff happen around them. :p

*sighs* if only bungie and m$ actually cared... oh the possibilities....

Halo 2 PC suggestion: Start over.
Halo 2 sucks, everyone who's played it for more than a couple of weeks says so. It's not that it's a bad game as such, it's just that Halo 1 was so much better, and people expected Halo 2 to build on that. Bungie's manufactured hype only contributed to this disappointment.

PS: how about a 30 minute afk ban? Surely that's fair?

30 minutes seems a little long, i think it should be around 5 minutes of doing absolutely nothing by which i mean firing or moving of your own accord. As for the Halo 2 comment im torn between the fact that i know that from my experience it is not as good as halo but my exxperiences only include a very limited amount of campaign and playing against my friends. I have yet to try online which should be a good aspect. I do agree with the start over slightly but there are just a few thing that i really like and should not be changed...im going to stop rambling now...

if anyone actualy read what i said, they wouldn't be flaming me. i sugested there be a spectator setting, so that if i go to the bathroom or something, i'll still be connectd, but i can't be shot or stuff like that, so i can't score, and no one get their points boosted because i'm away. also, insted of an AFK BAN, it would simply put you into spectator after 5 mins of idleness
and skippy, you don't have to buy it if you don't like it, so shut up about your anti halo2 rant. don't spoil it for the others who realise the diffrence between games

The point is, spec mode would use up player slots. Wether you're standing still in a game or spectating, you're still taking up space that another player could use to contribute to the game. And Iamwhile, I did buy Halo 2. Spent a fair bit of money on the 'limited edition' (of which there are more than of the standard edition). I paid more than full price for less then a full game, Halo 2 Has No Ending, to force you to buy Halo 3. I paid the money which makes me a consumer. And being a consumer gives me the right to my opinion on the product. I'm not 'spoiling it for others', I don't know Anyone who wasn't disappointed by Halo 2.

They could make the spectator mode like in UT 2k4, you still get kicked if you're idle. I agree it would be nice. Also something to equal out the teams, i've played in games where it was 5 reds vs 2 blues, we'd win and the next game it be the same unfair teams.

This is a RETICULE, and that is a RETICLE. I'm using the latter to aim. And what are you using?

An AFK kick seriously needs to be implemented. The worst I've ever seen was 8 vs 8 team slayer, and a total of 7 (seven!!!) people were AFK (2 blues, 5 reds). But I'd suggest that an AFK kick doesn't track and kick only by the player's movement on the map (spoils camping). Only if there is no input at all (not switching weapons, looking around, moving) the AFK-kick should trigger. I'd also suggest that the time a player is allowed to stay idle can be set up in the options.

skippy, you should have relised, i was refering to halo 2 PC, not halo 2 for xbox. though i know you've been playing it, cause you keep flaming it, i'm suprised that you, a well know xbox flamer, would even think to buy it for xbox anway

Heyyo,

Err... if ya read his other posts, I believe he said he diddn't buy an $box just for halo.... Same goes for someother forum goes like Ekul.

But yeah, if they won't implement that in Halo2PC? at least make a great plugin system like they made for the Source Engine. Best 3rd party support system ever. Just throw your compiled .dll into the bin folder, start the game and go in the console and type: plugin load *name* and there ya go, loaded and ready to work. Even better, put it in the autoexec.cfg and it does it for ya. Since Halo's really just a compilation of some great parts of other games, they definately need to put this into Halo2PC. ;)

[EDIT]
Here's the great Plugin system of the Source Engine in action with the game CSS with a great plugin: Mani's Admin Mod
http://www.mani-admin-plugin.com/forums/portal.php

Here's some of the highlights:
- Map Voting (vote for which map you want next)
- VoteKicking (vote if you want someone kicked from the server)
- TK Punishing (kill your tker, blind him, or forgive him if it was accidental)
- Anti-Spawn TKing Protection (if someone tries to tk you at roundstart, they die instantly)
- Weapon Restriction (run on/off any weapons/equipment of your choice)
- Stats Ranking (see your rank out of other players, see your kills, and deaths, and more importantly, your kill-to-death ratio. You usually need 25 kills to even start to be ranked, so unskilled players probably won't make it on there.)
- Sounds (make it play sound and text on certain players or everyone's game)

Later they wanna add stuff like: anti-camping (you can only stay near your previous position for like 20 seconds before being killed, or possibly kicked from the server)

the current leader of admin mods, the original CS 1.6 Admin Mod has even more features, and Mani's is like, an imitation but for CS: Source.

Half-Life 1 Engine diddn't have built in modding abilities at first, but Valve, being as cool as they are, created a SDK (Source Development Kit) so you could create your own mods. Later they added support for stuff like FakeClients (bots, computer AI..), and eventually programmers figured out how to create a plugin system (called metamod) and now metamod plugins are still being created. Now DOZENS upon DOZENS of bots and mods are available, over 30 bots just for CS! With the power of metamod plugins you could play with many of those bots against eachother! Think aboot the power of plugins, and how the Halo community could benefit from them.... Halo would be a MUCH better game than it is right now, that's for sure... Ok, there's the HEK that they made for HaloCE, but it's not nearly as strong as even the HL1 SDK. Since Halo also desn't support any kindof plugin systems to begin with, our modding is pretty limited. All you can really do is make custom maps you could modify and others would have to have the same map file and since the server's don't auto upload the maps to the clients the only way to get them is from websites. All the actual Halo mods have been hacks like the HaloCE Delagginator, and the Devtrainer.
