The End

‘The conscious is cancerous if allowed to linger’

"Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there."

I see it all the time, advertisements in the Halo 3 forum. I think it would be a good idea to use the advertisements on the right of the page to occasionally advertise the Classifieds forum. This will raise awareness and might make the forum more active and give it good reason to exist.

What do you all think?

Great thinking!
I support this idea 100%. It's easy to implement and will go a long way to solving the rampant "join my group" threads that are erroneously posted everywhere.

+ how about ads to ALL the forums on b.net (not user forums...unless people BUY space :P)

Trying something once will increace your chances of success, because you tried it. Try someting twice, and your chances increase yet again - seeing as you've done it. Try something a few thousand times, and your chances of success is exponentially increased; this increase would likely provide success every time

Agreed. It would be a bit weird to advertise something that is used for advertising, but maybe then people will actually learn about it. Honestly though, I would just love for people to explore the site a little bit more, so we wouldn't have this type of problem. But, we all know that isn't going to happen any time soon.

Having a Halo 3 forum ad in the Flood would be great, since it seems people post topics about the game in the Flood all the time for some reason.

I have no problem with this except for the fact that some Firefox users can have AdBlocker, which means that most banners are blocked and are not seen by the user. These banners include the ads on Bungie.net. It would be a good idea to have an ad for the classifieds and a link to the classifieds under the community tab at the top of the page.

Good, bad, I'm the guy with the clichéd lines.

I use adblocker and I see the ads just fine. Then again I didn't add any sort of list. I just block things as I go along.

Anyways I think this is a good idea. I don't think we should have ads for the other forums though. Just classified because that's an important forum that seems to go ignored.

Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

He's back, it's AdjutantRef-...Oh wait, it's just you.

Though it is rather ironic to have an advertisement for something meant for advertising, it's definitely a good idea.

Damn it, how long has foman been a mod? I have failed to congradulate him :-(

Ontopic: This is a very good idea, it would stem the rampant group threads and bring some attention to the classifides.

Actually, an "ad" for each forum would be a good thing to have in the rotation.

Some members are unaware of the various forums that are another layer down, and this could help with that.

It could also have a nice explanation of what that particular forum is for. Something a little more verbose than the text in the banner.

Great idea!
I like that idea.

I think its a good idea, but it shouldn't be TOO prevalent, you know not showing up every time.

  • 03.13.2008 4:49 PM PDT

I can see that with all the "good idea" replies, mine won't really matter. I highly doubt it will stop people from advertising threads where they don't belong.

And Recon, it would be a bad idea. When people make threads to advertise their group they don't think. They only care about how many members they want. An "ad" for EVERY forum would be too many and the Classifieds would be missed alot. I don't think the purpose of those ads are to advertise forums. No, I didn't think my best on this reply. Go ahead, prove me wrongs guys.

It IS as bad as you think and they ARE out to get you.

Well, if there is a wider variety of ads, then the chances of a particular one coming up would be lessened.

HATERS GONNA' HATE

How come no one else thinks of this? Great idea.

  • 03.13.2008 5:02 PM PDT

I must agree with this. It would most likely help stp all those ads in the other forums. I know alot of members miss that "other forums" button. Great idea Tom T, I hope it is implemented. I really don't see a bad side to it.
