I'm having a disconnect problem, I'm playing halo multiplayer and for some unknown reason, suddenly the little lag box comes up and I get disconnected. When I try to get the list, it comes up with an error and I have to wait 5 or so min to try another game.

Here’s the low down on my network crap stuff:

56k connection, nice and steady. Good pings are around 200 and highs are around 400 at most. Yes I have the latest driver crap. This only started just recently after I got ram for the computer. (The ram helped with my timeout before I could enter a friggen game to get lagged out) no I don’t have any spy ware, ad ware, or viruses, I’m good with those things. Nothing is taking up my bandwidth nor my processor (other than halo itself). I don’t have a network of computers so ya.

*Ignore my siggy's specs, that comp doesn’t run halo*

If you feel really pokey the graphics is a crappy Intel extreme onboard graphics, its like playing star fox with textures *I can have textures on high and frame rate is a steady 20-25*. Processor is a celeron 1.7ghz but it can handle halo. Single hd 55gb. 2 sticks of 128-pc133 ram. Windows home sp2.

Oh and one other thing not pertaining to halo but also a connection problem, on my other comp *look at siggy now & be horrified* the network card/modem keeps on stopping the send and receive of data at random times no matter if its just sitting there or busy.

Heyyo,

This is probably caused by too many players on the servers. Usually on dial up I could only handle up to 8 players or so, and then I'd lag out. Usually servers kick you if your pings are too high, so just keep aiming for smaller servers is all you can do, sry, but HaloPC ain't dial up friendly. One of the most forgiving games is the Half Life series & mods. But most servers kick dial up users, so careful. Another good one is that quake world stuff... check into that...

Well i can join a 15 player game and my dial up can handle that, up until the stupid little xbox pops up in 5 min and a half a second later i get that message "Lost network connection"

and that thing you said about servers booting dial up people, i wonder, are some people maybe starting to develop something like that for halo? if so, that will really suck.

also, no matter that game i go into, map, # players (0-15), or game type; i get dised

200 is not a good ping, 30-60 is. 56K is so outdated now, you might even be kicked or banned if there are admins in a game and you join with a ping like 400. Also there nowhere near as reliable or stable as broadband. In the UK most 56K modems can only achieve a 48K connection.

i dont live in an area where i can get anything faster than dsl, even then i live to far away from my town to get it, so its just 56k. also i never see a kick or ban msg, its just the same old lost network connection *why doesnt the comp just look at it's feet and pick up the damn connection that it dropped?*

personaly i hope i dont have to reinstall halo, but if i have to i guess i could

also it seems that if i make my own game the connection stays steady, until someone joins then i loose the connection
