Also, you're not empathizing with animals. You're being judgmental and snooty. you're just using this as an excuse to prove to the world how great and noble you are. This is an ego trip, that only you and those who are on the same type of ego trip could justify and applaud. You take narcissism and turn it into an art form.

Come on thread, breathe!

How? I posted some stories that I thought people would like, I didn't ask them to share their experiences, and I didn't post my experiences until later, because I thought those would be interesting too. (btw, I'm steelboom490)

OK, this one isn't mine but this thread needs a new story!

There was once a 21 year girl named Lori who had just moved to her new college. Everything went fine the first year she was there, she shared her huge appartment room with her friends and even met a nice guy, everything was fine except for the fallout between her and a goth group that was well known in the campus. Other than that, her year was going great and she was looking forward to Christmas break.

However, as the break neared, she began hearing rumors that the "goth group" was planning to kill her during break, when there was virtually nobody around. She decided to buy a dog, knowing that her room mate was going to be away for the break and whe wanted some company. She trains the dog to sleep under her bed, so that in the middle of the night she can put her hand on the floor and the dog will lick it. That way, she knows he's still there.

Christmas break comes around and one day Lori comes back to the apartment after a night on the town. She undresses and takes a shower, then goes to sleep, her dog underneath her bed as usual.

She wakes up in the middle of the night with a small noise, she sticks her hand under her bed and feels her dog lick her hand. "No problem," she thinks, and goes to sleep.

A couple of hours later she wakes up again, thinking she heard her dog whining in her bathroom. However, she sticks her hand under the bed and once again the dog licks her hand. She goes back to sleep.

She wakes up for a third time, this time hearing a distinctive, 'drip, drip, drip' comming from the bathroom. She puts her head under the bed, feels her dog lick her hand, and then gets up to go turn off the water, thinking she has left it running the whole night.

When she gets to the bathroom she finds her dog drowned in the bathtub. She looks to try to find her cell phone, which she left in her pants pocket when she took a shower. She notices it missing, so she desperately runs out of the house.

She runs to her friend's house and they go to the police station. The police take the girl back to her apartment and she shows them the way to the bathroom.

However, when she opens the door, she notices something's different. The bathtub water is completely red, and there is something written on the mirror in blood:

'You're lucky you weren' t here earlier or this would have been you.'

The police then examine the apartment and discover something's underneath the bed. It turned out that the dog had been dead for awhile, and that the person licking her hand was the murderer.

Eh, I heard it before, but I had to type it out. Hope you enjoyed it and I have better ones, I just need a break.

For every step you risk death no matter how ridiculous it sounds. One boy took one too many. He was innocent, unsuspecting and very frightful of the dark, merely a shadow throws him in a fit. Nyctohylophobia made itself known, and turned into the most petrifying nightmare one curiously cold summer day.

Boy enjoyed the basement of his 2 story house, 4 roomed and filled with toys, a television and even a gaming console stuffed in the corner collecting dust. The only obstacle to these ambrosiac delights, is the lack of light. The light switch; mounted at the bottom of the stairs would force Boy to venture through the shadows to activate the switch. He tried one time.

His wobbling legs trickled down the staircase ever so carefully. Unfortunately he made quite a fall. It occured so bluntly he could not tell what forced this collapse. The boy became terrified, fearing the monsters would go after him. He screamed and kicked, could not tell where he was and at the same time imagining the horrors in his head come at him. Too bad, this happening would endure. forever. In more unexpected ways then one.

One decade plus two later , Boy was in 6th grade, still somewhat young, but his fear of shadows shadowed by friends, school and puberty. Nyctohydra however, would make itself known to him once more, never letting Boy go on without him following....

Home. Secure. Safe. Warmth. He had a hard day at school with a science test, and couldn't get his mind off a possible failing grade. As he unpacked his book bag his mother, Jolene called for him to retrieve some eggs out of the auxiliary hunk of junk fridge in the basement. Used to store meats and product to be used at dinners.

Boy had long forgotten his fear of shadows, but he did NOT forget his accident. A simple fall, pain and horrors. As he ventured down the archaic staircase into the basement, he flipped on the lights and hiked through the piles of move-in boxes. As he got the fresh dozen o' eggs, he took a moment to think about his accident once more. As he did, something inside of him awoke.

Escaped.

Angry.

Screaming.

The Nyctohylophobia came to roost once more. Boy froze, and noticed the lights seemed to dim without a dimmer, and a room adjacent to the fridge, which has not been in use for years; door closed; was breathing with intensity. Rather vibrating and shaking with malacious intent. It stopped seconds later.

The Nyctohydra awoke. And made its presence known. Boy peered down the large hallway. His vision distorted, or was it the shadows? The room ahead faded to black. A void capped by only a door frame. It was a strange sight. the shadows crept in all over...devouring all walls and furniture in it's path, raping sound and making its own. It spoke.

"See to it that you slumber under me.I will make fresh fear from you" The darkness spoke in a low pitched growl. Boy glared at his fingers, blood stained. Blackening with shadows, the Nyctohydra consuming. Boy ran, ran into the open void doorway. Weather it led to his home or Hell made no difference. The hate and concentrated evil he could feel in this dark place was worse. Perhaps a secret level 10 of Hell he thought, his mothers teachings only taught 9.

He stepped through, true world coming to fruition. He took no time to breathe in the more human air. The stairs would allow his ascent to safety...

As he climbed, he could hear, and even feel the shreiks and howels of the dark NyctoHydra attempting a clean, cold kill. Boy saw.

As he reached the peak of the staircase, the door at the top was seemingly locked. As he struggled with the knob, he turned his head back, the darkness was gone. But the NyctoHydra remained. Behind a perpendicular wall. An eerie calling sound grew stronger as a floating demonic face monster took behold a presence. It slowly ventured up. Screaming and thrashing. It stared intently. Not a moment too soon, the door unlocked and Boy opened, threw himself on the otherside and shut the door.

The NyctoHydra remained on the other side. Boy being safe, knew it wouldn't last.He didn't get the eggs. He must've dropped them on the way out of the hellhole.

"What's wrong honey?!"

Boy collapsed into a fetal position. No words spoke as a response. He wasn't safe. The NyctoHydra was him. It consumed him.

Run from your fears, and the fears will only run faster. Consuming your inner flesh with horrifying intent. Don't make any more bad steps, please. Even if it's all in your head.

Now that was a pretty good write. Out of the top of my head with some true things that happened. Hell, maybe I should write it into a full blown book(several events made this, something odd happened when I was young).

The story reminds me of the song "All Nightmare Long" by Metallica.

FINALLY A BREAK IN THE WEATHAH

Posted by: Poland Springs
He was walking by the house when he first heard the threats. He tied his dog’s leash to the fence surrounding the house, and cautiously approached the front door. He heard two men yelling at each other. “Why are you here?!” the first voice said. “Oh, you know very well why I’m here. You know what you did.” The second voice shouted. “You will pay for this.” Then, there was nothing. The dog began to whimper, and the man began to feel cold. Suddenly, there was a sound of things being knocked over from inside the house. “No, no!” the first voice screeched. There was then a crack. A loud, disgusting crack. The first voice started howling in pain. “You’re not running away” the second voice grunted. “I’m back, and you’re not escaping again.” There was then a quiet, subtle “pop”. The second man started to hysterically laugh, and there was the noise of glass breaking. As all this was happening, the man outside the door was getting very nervous. He decided to call the cops. “911 emergency, what seems to be the problem?” the woman on the other line said. The nervous man replied with “I don’t know, just… just get over here. The address is... 239 Shamplane ave.” He hung up, and worked up the courage to look through the window on the side of the door.
*message for the rest, it gets pretty gruesome*

You've already posted enough gruesome stories, why not post the rest, unless if it's a picture.

A young woman was sleeping in her bed, and it was her first day of moving into the new house. It was her first time she was living alone. At night, she couldn't get to sleep - uncomofrtable in the new bedroom - and sat their awake. She was relaxed by the thought of her pet dog lying under the bed, so she fell back to sleep. Suddenly, she was woken by a dripping sound. She became worried, so threw her hand under the bed to recieve a reasurring lick from her pet dog. After her hand was licked, she got up and went to the bathroom. 'Ugh, i left the tap on!' she cursed, and turned the nozzle on the tap around.

She went back to bed, and fell back to sleep. She was suddenly awoken again by a crashing sound of water. She stuck her hand under the bed, recieved a lick, and went into the bathroom again. The shower had turned on, so she switched it off - confused - and walked back to bed...now irritated and tired. She fell back to sleep as soon as her head hit the pillow.

She was awoken by a thundering sound outside, and harsh rain beating the windows. She ignored it, until she felt cold droplets of water hitting her face - and opposite her bedroom she noticed the bathroom window was open. She got the lick from her dog, and went into the bathroom to close the window. She tried the switch - it didn't work.

So she stumbled into the pitch-black room, and closed the window. Sighing, she looked towards the wall - as a strange smell was coming from it. Suddenly, lightning filled the room - and the girl saw her pet dog dead on the floor, and in blood written on the wall read: 'Humans can lick too'

The police found the dead body of a 20 year old woman the next day...

the next day..........her face licked apart buy her other dog that knew how to write on walls with blood and liked the sound of running water. lol thats how she died

If you want to read something frightening, I recommend a story called, The Fear of Darkness. Additionally, I also believe that googling black eyed people is worth a vested interest. I do not doubt that whomever reads these topics, will have difficulty sleeping.

This feels worthy of being in this thread.

JUST ONE STEP INTO THE LIGHT...

Three friends were hiking through a woods. Their names were James, Cody and Zach. Cody's family had recently bought the 250 acre woods along with an additional 100 acres of bare land (including their house...). It was the first time Cody and his friends had been in the woods since his parents bought the house. It was getting late, the sun would set in half an hour. The boys stopped and rested next to a hollowed out tree, overlooking a clearing in the woods.
"I think we should start to head back to the house, it's getting late", said Zach, who was expecting his mom to pick him up shortly after sun down.
"Yeah, let's leave, we've been in here all day", said Cody. The three teenagers started to go back from the direction that they came from. After about 20 minutes, they realized they had been in this spot before, 10 minutes ago.
"We're going in circles", said James agravatedly. A look of worry came across each boy's face as they slowly began to realize... They were lost. They decided to just go in one direction, that way, they would reach the edge of the woods, figure out which way the house was, and follow the edge of the woods. The boys headed one way. The sun was setting, and they realized that they werent going to make it back before dark. After 5 minutes of heading in one direction, they saw a patch of faded light coming through the trees. The edge of the woods! They jogged the rest of the way, with the look of relief and excitement on their faces. When they reached it, disappointment struck on each of their faces. It was the clearing they had rested in about 40 minutes ago! The hollowed out tree staring at them with the sense of pride. Darkness surrounded them. Yet somehow, there was still light in that little clearing, it almost seemed like noon. The boys stayed in the trees, looking at the clearing in shock and disbelief.
"What the hell! We were just here not long ago!" screamed James with the look of mixed emotions on his face. The other boys nodded in sadness.
Suddenly, out of no where, they heard voices of little childern laughing, male and female, but mostly female.
"Cody", said Zach. "Is your woods divided by your family and another family?" Cody shook his head "no". The three boys started to head back from the direction they came from. Then, they heard little voices whispering:
"Just one step... Just one step into the light..." At this point, the boys were frightened, and they were in a full-blown sprint. They ran for at least 2 minutes, when they saw "the edge of the woods" (sarcasm). They ran to it only to realize that it was the clearing.
"What the hell is going on?!" screamed Zach in a terrified voice.
"I dont know, just stay out of the light!" The boys ran a direction they have never ran before. None of them had ever ran as fast as they were running now. When they came to one final clearing, they swore, all of them.
"Son of a -blam!-! does this woods ever end?!" swore Cody. The boys tried to turn and run from the clearing yet again, but this time they couldnt. The clearing had surrounded them! They found themselves in the middle of a patch of trees, right in the middle of the clearing! Little children still laughing and saying "Just one step into the light!", which had now become a chant. The look of fear and disbelief over each boy's face.
"This cant be happening!" shouted James in sheer horror. Suddenly, the three boys had been pushed from the patch of trees by someone from behind, but all the boys were facing opposite directions. There the boys lay, in the lighted clearing in the tall grass. Each one of them stood up, as the chanting and laughter of the little children stopped. They looked at one another, confused and terrified.
"Let's get out of here!" said Cody, still in shock. But before anyone could take a step, the laughter and chanting started again, and the boys were engulfed by the tall grass and sunken into the ground. Their screams were never heard...

THE END

if anyone thinks i can make any improvements, let me know...
