"Escape From Torment"
Chapter I: Rude Awakening
You are Carlos Trevor, a Junior in high school. You have it all, friends, passing grades, a job. Everything except for knowledge of torment which lies ahead...
It has been an exhausting day at Salius High, tests every class with the thought of relaxation in your home ahead. Chattering about people, events, and television shows with your best friend, Joey Buddson, you see your parents pull out from the driveway. As sunlight flashes across your face, they explain that they're leaving for a Pennsylvania vacation for three days. You, seventeen-year old Carlos Trevor are now in charge of the house until they return.
The house is painted white, also has flower and shrub before it. There is a maple tree to the right that you remember playing around at a young age and the area is sub-urban. Your friend, Joey, asks if he can stay for a while and you accept. You stay outside for a moment to watch your parents drive away then you enter the house.
The flooring is fresh wooden plank with tan walls around. You proceed ahead to the kitchen which Joey is already heading down into the basement without you. You open the freezer to take out hot pockets. While waiting for them to warm, You search for a bag of pringles chips and a two- litter bottle of sprite.
You carry the food and beverage down into the basement where Joey waits on a couch before a television. To your surprise, he has a new movie called "Escape From Torment" which someone left behind in a hurry. You set everything down on a coffee table and relax as the movie begins.
Watching it, you notice it unique by being shot from a camera. It starred a teenaged female character named Kellia who was stalked by Torment. Kellia wore a light-black jacket and had medium legnth orange hair. Torment was a mutant creature with four arms, a split jaw, and tentacles. The creature could lay eggs inside people which would tear thier way out from the body and feast upon it after hatching.
Torment's first appearance was concealed away behind a large, black coat with even the face hidden behind a hood. The creature had rarely revailed it's true nature and always kept to the shadows. In the end Kellia had managed to escape through the use of a subway tunnel and although Torment had gotten hit by a train, it never truely died.
By now the sky is dark and stormy when Joey leaves. You start changing the channel to regular programming when you hear creaking above you. You dismiss it as Joey grabbing food or using the bathroom. Soon you become tired and require sleep but first you need to use the bathroom. You lazily get up and after shutting off power to the television, head upstairs.
Along the way, you get an eerie feeling of being watched but manage to dismiss it. Finally after the bathroom break you can head upstairs to rest. You proceed through the kitchen to open another wooden door which one might assume to be a pantry just as the wooden basement door. It's not a pantry but actually leading to a staircase as you already know.
You ascend the staircase and open the wooden door atop it. From here, your room is straight ahead but you must keep turnning lights off along the way. Finally, you reach the room and leave your current clothing on as you're just that tired.
As you begin falling asleep, you begin hearing footsteps which seem to grow louder with each passing one. You stare at your also wooden bedroom door to see it slowly creak open. A black, shadowy figure squeezes through and you awaken terrified. Suddenly, you hear a crash come from downstairs and you cautiously get out of bed...
Chapter II: Terrorization
Slowly, you proceed forward with your heart beating faster upon each individual step. You strain against the fear of checking out the sound for the nightmare could be real. Slowly but surely you overcome that fear and dismiss the thought that such a thing could possibly exist. Opening the wooden kitchen door you notice glass shattered against the wooden floor and the wooden basement door open. Quite alot of wood you notice but then again, it just is.
As you approach the door, a shadow ascends and you recoil. To your luck, it's Joey and sure enough he explains that he dropped something by accident while returning to take the movie back. Without notice, a serpent- like tentacle crawls up the basement stairs and constricts Joey. You try your best to free him but the tentacle pulls him down into the darkness.
With a deep breath you chase down after him to assist, nothing on the way down unlike the fear suggests. Instead, all terror is proven false when you look around to find nothing. Heard around the basement is light moaning, you search around near crates stacked up to find Joey curled up on the dusty floor. You assist him up and help him up the stairs much like a true friend would.
Joey makes an atempt of walking unassisted when he falls over into the living room, at least he is living. Suddenly, You rush over to help him up when you hear a horrific-monstorous growl from the basement but are afraid that if you leave Joey be, he may not survive. Without warning the power goes out and the house is left in darkness with only flashes of lightning which would break it.
Peeking into the kitchen, one flash reveals the same black figure from the nightmare slowly approaching. With the next flash, it's gone and you start to panic. It's only when Joey shifts that you stop feeling afraid. You hear Joey slowly rise and ask what had just ocurred. You explain how you helped him up here and now you ask him to follow your lead; the only way out is to stick together.
You and Joey walk into the kitchen in search of a flashlight. Not only should it repel the creature but also provide sight. You find batteries and hand them over to Joey who found the flashlight. In a moment you can see by the shine of it but fail to see the black-clothed figure. You would figure that as large as it is that the thing would just attack already.
It is only when you turn to Joey to comment on the situation that you get another eerie feeling. You slowly turn to see the creature towering above you. Still with fright, you notice that the creature wields a long, half- red blade and prepares to strike when Joey uses a combination of attacks to save your life. Joey shines the flashlight into the creatures hood which seems to boil through and make it stumble back which leaves Joey with the open option to kick the thing back down into the basement.
Together, you and Joey both descend willingly after it to end this nightmare, it would not stop until dealt with. Unfortunately, it is once again nowhere to be found. You still look around though, persistance is always good for getting something done here and now. You check the VCR on the television set to see if "Escape from Torment" is still in there.
Sure enough that it is and also sure enough that once you pull it out that the creature from the movie should be sighted again. This time however, is unlike others as the creature's inhuman face can be seen from a mile away. You at least wish it was a mile away, it was anything close to a bulked- up neck of a turkey. That "neck" hung over itself the reveal a jaw split into four individual sections.
Perhaps even worse was it's temprer after Joey's previous actions. A number of serpent- like tentacles bursted out from all possible sides and swarmed around itself to protect from flashlight attacks. You think to yourself: all we need now is some dramatic music...
