First of all, I have to say that i love this theard. I love stuff like this, and had to submit a story. This is my shot at a scary story. And I am going to joing your group for sure.

Dont Worry, Be Happy

The family was excited as they towed a truck full of their belongings to their new house. They had just recieved the call the previous day from the landlord telling them that they could move in whenever. They decided to move sooner than later, and arrived at the house around dawn. The two children jumped out of the truck as soon as it stopped, and started surveying their new surroundings. The landlord appeared not long after, wishing the family luck in moving in.

The family moved in all of the boxes, and started unpacking. Further surveying of the house made the family notice a small, but heavy wooden door in the basement. After prying it open they found a small, nook-like room. The floor of the room was a few feet above the ground, and it was so small that the daughter of nine years old couldn't stand up in it. The family found the room creepy, but decided to use it as a storage room for all of the extra stuff that didn't really fit in anywhere.

After a month or so of comfortable living, the thirteen year old son decided to go to the storage room to find a box of his stuff that he never unpacked. He opened the small, yet heavy door, and crawled into the extremely dark, damp room. There was hardly any light, so feeling around was the best way to find what he was looking for. He felt around the boxes for any familiar items. After a few minutes, the son started to feel strange. Thats when a strange noise permeated the room.

"Don't worry, be happy. Don't worry, be happy now."

It was an old song, coming from one of the boxes. The son was spooked, but found the source of the noise. In one of the boxes was a mountable, singing rubber fish that sang old tunes and moved it's mouth. The son realized that there was nothing really to be afraid of, and found the box and left the room. The fish was never returned to the box.

The boy was trying to get to sleep that night, and something about the fish was bothering him. What was making it go off. The boys room was in the basement, so he was naturally spooked more than the rest of the family. After an hour or so of trying to get to sleep, he heard a noise from the storage room.

" Don't worry, be happy. Don't worry be happy now."

The fish was going off again, and this time nobody was even near it. The boy decided that the fish must be broken, and decided to venture back into the storage room to remove the batteries. The fish went off after the batteries were removed, and stayed off for the rest of the night.

The next morning, the boy told his mother about the fish. She said that it was strange, and decided to go down and look at it. On the way down the stairs the now spooky song filled the air.

" Don't worry, be happy. Don't worry, be happy now."

The son was now afraid, and the mother bewildered. They opened the storage room door, and found the fish singing there, and the batteries sitting next to the fish. The mother picked it up and opened the battery compartment. She screamed and dropped the fish, grabbing the sons hand and running back up the stairs.

That night the father disposed of the fish, and nothing else weird happened to the family for a while. One day the landlord knocked on the door. The mother answered it, and the landlord came into the house, and sat down.

" There's something I should have told you," she said, "My husband killed himself in this basement. I found his body in the small basement room."

That is my story. I know that it may not be the scariest, but it is to me because this actually happened. I'm not kidding, I am the boy in the story and this happened to me a few years ago. People can believe what they want, but this is a true story.

I have a few more ideas, and will post more stories in the future.

This was posted wayyy back near the beginning. I started reading from the first page on last night. Now what got me was this was the last post I read and I decided I was probably scared enough and should go to bed. Well as it happens my grandpa has just recently passed away. :/ But last week we went to his house and grandma wanted us to take some things to remember him by. Like hats from his hat collection and etc. Well I looked on the wall and I saw "Big Mouth Billy Bass" and it made me think so much of when I was a little girl and I'd beg my grandpa to play it over and over again til he'd be like "I ain't play that damn fish no more" haha. It made me smile so I asked grandma if I could take it with me and of course she didn't mind. So I got it off the wall and brought it home. Well as things would work out yesterday I finally got some batteries for the fish. Now keep in mind the story I quoted was the last one I read.. well right after I close up my laptop I turn off my light and that blasted fish started playing. Scared the living hell out of me. I jumped up turned on a smaller light and just sat there. I was already creeped out by the stories and after that my imagination was in overload mode. Every noise, every sound was something I thought was going to eat me. I eventually got up to the turn the fish off so it wouldn't go off when I turned the lights on or off again, but of course the time I make hand contact with it all I hear is "Don't Worry Be Happy" and I'm scared all over again. I slept with my lights on all night. Maybe I'm just a wimp, but that seriously scared the hell out of me.

"Shut up, you're like 42 years old"

The Fear Hormone

The following is scribed directly from documents found in an abandoned German test lab by American soldiers during the aftermath of WWII, roughly translated into English.

(Audio Tape) Testing is to begin tomorrow. The team does not know what to expect. Our mission is to take new research and turn it into a weapon for the war-front. It has recently been discovered that the brain releases a (previously unknown) chemical when feeling fear. For obvious reasons, this test could be extremely dangerous. Two test subjects have been selected, and from what we were told, they were sentenced to death, but are going to instead be used as subjects in this experiment.. Subjects are given a table with two chairs, a cot with a mattress, a stocked bookcase, a notebook and pen, a bathroom area consisting of a toilet, a sink, and a mirror. Food and water are given through a small, seal-able opening. I have nothing more to report at this time.

(Written Document) Test Subject A and B are being given the chemical in a small dose, mixed with water. Test Subject A has consumed the water, and has shown no visible changes in mood or behavior. Test Subject B has refused to drink the water. He has been forcefully given the same dosage, but by direct injection. He gave some resistance, but was easily controlled and injected. Shortly afterward, he seemed nervous, almost paranoid, and jumped whenever he heard sudden noises. Subjects have been told to try and remain active, or sleep, not just idle.

(Written Document) It took time, but we have developed a gas based version of the chemical. If shown effective on subjects, this could become a valuable weapon. Dosage has been increased slightly. Neither subjects were aware that the chemical was being let into the room. After a few minutes, subject A stopped reading, and began to look around the room cautiously. After an estimated hour, he began to read again. Subject B immediately responded. He opened the notebook for the first time, and wrote "What is going on? Stop whispering to me. I do not want to hear you." onto a piece of paper, ripped it out of the notebook, and slipped it under the door. No reply was given.

(Written) We are going to observe the effects of long term, low amounts of the gas on subject A, and we are going to observe the effects of a short, high amount period of the gas on Subject B. The results are shocking to say the least. Subject A progressively became more unstable. He stopped reading, would not eat, and avoided the mirror at all costs. He suddenly became very aggressive, and threw a heavy book at the mirror with surprising force, shattering it. Subject B's reaction was more... Curious... He began staring at the second chair. But he was not looking at the chair, he was looking as if making eye contact with someone sitting in the chair. Something seems amiss, but we are definitely getting results. The Fhurer will be most pleased.

(Vocal Recording) (The voice sounds distressed.)

We did not want this! What did we do to deserve god's vengeance such as this?! Subject B escaped from his cell, the chair he was staring at was thrown across the room, straight into the viewing glass, instantly shattering it. It was 5 inches thick, reinforced... He didn't even touch the chair... He has escaped out of the hole made by the impa- (a very loud scream drowns out anything being said.) HELP ME, HES RIPPI (Loud crunch), (Back to first person) The vent's are leaking the gas into the rest of the facility! The power has gone offline, and he has killed off all the gau-Oh my lord... Oh, no, no NO, NO, PLEASE! (there is a loud, beastly roar, and sounds of struggle. The rest of the tape is silence.)

(One final note was found. It seemed to be hastily written, and barely legible.)

They are dead. Everyone one of them. I hear him in the walls. I hear him whispering to me. Yes.. Yes.. Please come and take me away! I want no more of th

(And the note end there, the rest too soaked in blood to read.)

April 23, 1944, Allied soldiers found an abandoned German laboratory, with it's only door sealed shut. Using charges, they forcefully entered the laboratory, wondering what was so important that the Germans had to lock it away. They found 13 bodies, 12 of which had matching lab coats on, mangled to pieces, and in one case, ripped straight in half. The 13th body had nondescript, brown clothing, and no head. A larger scale investigation was launched later by the Germans as to determine what had happened, but was canceled after many German soldiers absolutely refused to return to the laboratory, even if threatened with their lives. To this day, nobody knows what happened to "B", but he is presumed dead.

Halo: The Secret Flood

Now, this is a story about something true. I know you won't believe it, and I know you think the thing I just said is because I am about to tell you something paranormal, well I can tell you I'm not. And this is something I learned via something not really interesting until I thought about it.With something not real mixed in, also the part about the flood noises is true.

Now, on to the story, I was just playing Halo: Combat Evolved, for old times sake. Killing flood, my friend was over, and we were playing Multiplayer. Anyways, we had read online all the secrets about flood, like if you play their clips backwards, you can hear them say things like "I know your there" and "Come back".

But the one that interested us the most, was one about making a flood make a unique sound by hitting him in certain areas with certain weapons. We tried what the story described, (I won't tell you because I don't wan't you to make my same mistake). And the flood made a scream, like a scream of immense pain, and died. It was horrifying, not because it was something scary, it was just so painful sounding, and it sounded human regardless of the fact it was an elite combat form, it made us feel bad for liking to kill flood, and making them feel pain. I felt sadness, for what seemed like no reason. It was indeed a sad day. It was very sad. Bungie must have removed it because of how sad it made people feel, if flood could actually make such a sound by default, it would be immensly horrifying. As people would feel bad for the flood.

Me and my friend researched this sound online, but it turns out that the page about the easter egg was removed, it said that is violated the sites terms of service. Which made me confused. But, I also read something else that related to the noise, there was hidden, a secret flood that would say a commentary about the noise, and why it was removed, but could only be accessed on Halo: Custom Edition, because it was out of normal map bounds.

Needless to say... I tried it. And I am about to quote it.

"Hello, this is Chris Butcher, the lead designer at Bungie. We are sorry to have left the sound ingame, but out fans must know the truth. Our original intention for the flood, was to have them as failed experiments the covenant made, and there would only be human combat form, that is why the screams sounded human. We didn't like this idea, and scrapped it, along with the sound you heard. However, as a reward for finding this, we have unlocked a new gun. It is always instant kill, as a reward for the things you heard. After all, we did lose a team member when the sound was heard during beta testing *Sobs were heard* I'm sorry, I'm just so sorry."

After that the flood died instantly. I am confused to this very day about that event.

"Shut up, you're like 42 years old"

The Couch

Ok, disclaimer: To the very best of my knowledge, this story is true. I don't expect to convince you - truth be told, I've had a hard time coming to terms with it myself. Cliche' as it may be, I really am a rational person, and, if not for this, I would probably be the most stone-faced atheist you'd ever meet. But, after much internal struggle and debate, I have come to the conclusion that there are things in life that simply can't be explained with reason, at least in the form in which we know it. Logic, for all the trust we place in it, is really nothing more than a candle, all too easily snuffed out. And when it is gone, we are left alone in the dark, and everything we would scoff at by daylight suddenly becomes very believable.

Alright, before I wax too melodramatic, here's my story.

I was very young; only 4 or 5, at most, before either of my siblings were born. It was just Mommy and Daddy and me, living in our little house in Great Bend, Kansas. Very quaint. We were a young family, without much money, and most of our furniture was second-hand.

It was the middle of the day; summer, hot, boring. I was playing marbles by myself on the thin carpet beside the huge, old, flower-patterned-couch. Mom was down the hall in the kitchen, and Dad was at work.

Why I was trying to roll marbles around on the carpet I don't know - we had a perfectly good linoleum floor, after all. But there I was, swishing the marbles back and forth, happily bouncing them into each other. Then, in my overzealous enthusiasm, I rolled too hard. My favorite marble - the clear, ruby-red one, zipped into the dark space under the couch and was lost.

Damnit. Dad wasn't home, and he was the only one strong enough to move that huge old couch for me. I'd have to get my marble back myself.

I reached my hand under the couch, tentatively at first, then deeper. Encountering no marbles, I pulled my hand out in disappointment.

Then, a hand reached out from under the couch back at me.

I remember the image vividly, and I suspect I always will. It was a slim hand, with tapered fingers - a woman's hand. It was gnarled and wrinkled, as if aged, and it was dead black. Not black as in African, black as in dead. Of course, back then, I didn't know that corpses blacken as they decompose, so I didn't know what the black meant.

The hand reached out to me as far as it could, which was just up to the wrist. Then it retreated under the couch. Then it emerged again, this time pushing with it a little crumpled up, plastic bag with a logo on it I didn't recognize. It waited, as if expecting me to take the bag. Then, when I didn't, it pulled the bag back under the couch and was gone.

I got up, walked down to the kitchen, and told my Mommy what had happened.

Why didn't I run screaming, or at least run? I don't really know. All I can say is, I was a little kid; a hand reaching out from under the couch at me didn't seem like that huge a deal. I hadn't yet learned what was and was not permissible in reality. I had no worldview.

Mom was skeptical, but walked me back to the couch and explained how I was probably imagining things. She even reached her hand under the couch to convince me that nothing was down there. Later, Dad lifted the couch up for me, and the only thing under it was, of course, my missing marble, plus a few more marbles I didn't even remember losing.

But here's the scary part...

For years, I remembered this - I even developed a weird fantasy of little hand-people living under the couch, and I, in my childlike innocence, believed that they would catch me and take me away if I ever reached into their domain again. Then, as I grew older, I wrote the memory off as a dream I had had as a child - cute, but silly.

Then, a few years ago, I recounted the story to my mother.

She gave me a funny look, and told me she remembered it, because, after all, she had been there. She told me that she remembered me coming to her in the middle of the day and telling her about the hand under the couch, and remembered being highly disturbed by my story, since I was an extremely quiet, well-behaved kid who didn't ever lie.

Then she told me about the couch itself. According to her, she and Dad had gotten the couch from the estate of an old woman who had actually died on it. This was the first time I had heard about this, but it sure explained why they got rid of the couch within a month of my story.

But here's part that truly frightens me, even to this day. The part that I have to try so hard to get out of my mind some nights. Remember that bag the hand pushed towards me? I've never forgotten the logo that was on it. And, recently, (as in a few years ago), I saw the same logo again, on what looked like the same type of bag, in a hardware store.

It was a bag of utility razor-blades.

Resident Evil copypasta similar to the Ash Coma Theory. I can actually relate to this. The whole wanting to be popular but not the top dog.

PART I

Resident evil is one of the most renowned horror games of all time, since it launched in 1996 it changed how action was perceived and even to this date it's still a majorly successful series, however do we really know why the things happen in Resident Evil? The answer is obvious, it's all part of Chris' imagination. None of it exists, none of it and I'll go into great detail about Chris' wild acid trip.

It all begins July 24, 1998. Chris is lonely, depressed, he has done nothing of his life and doesn't know where to begin so he decides to visit a guru or a "spirit guide" that will help him reach deep inside his repressed memories, his dark past and find what's in his hidden soul in order to determine what he truly wants, as Chris begins his journey deep into his mind he will have to encounter and overcome obstacles in order to come 1 step closer to the truth. This is the story of Resident Evil.

We will start with the obvious, Chris is now at the beginning of his journey, he is part of an elite, imaginary police force called S.T.A.R.S., yet he himself is not the leader of this. Special Tactics And Rescue Squad, note "Special" also that it does spell out STARS. Chris always wanted attention, S.T.A.R.S. suggests that he has been neglected as a child and thus always wanted to be more, be special be a star. Yet he did not imagine himself as the leader, instead Wesker is the leader, he is insecure and has low self esteem. He wants to be special but he doesn't picture himself at the top, he doesn't have what it takes.

Next are the teammates, let's look at Albert Wesker. He starts out as the leader of S.T.A.R.S. and eventually double-crosses his own team for power and money. Soon after Wesker gains powers beyond any mortal, powers that's even a stretch in the Resident Evil universe. In Resident Evil 5 he even talks about being a God before going completely insane with a quest of global domination. Wesker is the manifestation of Chris' father. As a young boy he was neglected by his father, he was a terrible father and Chris' brain exaggerates this to the point where he is a supervillain in his own mind. However he also starts out as the leader of S.T.A.R.S. he was a good father at one point, or perhaps Chris was young and naïve and just like at the end of the game, when Chris got older he opened his eyes and was revealed to the true man his father really is. This is portrayed exactly in the first game, we all start out fresh at the beginning of the game and naïve that our comrades never fails us yet when we become more experienced, as we "age" with the game we see the true man Wesker really is. But now that Wesker is no longer captain of S.T.A.R.S. and dies in Resident Evil 1 this is an obstacle that Chris thinks he has overcome yet he reappears, alive and well in Code:Veronica. Chris' low selfesteem means he still does not have the confidence to face his father yet and since his father is no longer in a position of power, in order to keep the threat real his mind manifested superpowers for Wesker. This gives the illusion that Wesker is still in control.

Wesker is a lot deeper than anyone gives credit. His role in the Raccoon City outbreak and Resident Evil 4 was in the sidelines yet he still pulls all the strings. Chris' father is manipulative and toyed with his emotions on several occasions, he is a sociopath and enjoys mentally and physically torturing his son, all of this is manifested perfectly in Wesker. He is cold, manipulative, sociopathic and always retains control over the family or in this case the RE universe. He is the face of Umbrella and has been intertwined with Umbrella since before the series started.

Which brings me to my next point, Umbrella Corporation is a very real corporation. Umbrella is the manifestation of work, Wesker being involved with Umbrella before Chris' journey even begins means that Chris' father has been in a family business. Umbrella is portrayed as a faceless organization that wants nothing more than power at any cost and is responsible for the greatest tragedy in American history. The death of an entire mid-western town, Raccoon City. His struggle against Umbrella is his real life struggle of not wanting to join the family business but being forced into it either way. As such Umbrella is a faceless evil just like the family owned business he is forced to join or threatened to be disowned by his dysfunctional family.

Jill Valentine is Chris' partner on more than one occasion and always has his back. She is faithful, loyal and a true friend. She always has his back and is very protective towards Chris. Jill is the manifestation of his mother, Chris always feels safe around her. The master of unlocking can break Chris free from his chains forced by his father and will always be there to protect him. However Jills fate meets a tragic end. In Resident Evil 5 Jill tackles Wesker out of a mansion killing both him and herself, or in this case their "marriage" resulting in divorce. Chris is finally free from his oppressive father at the ultimate cost, the death of a holy matrimony. Jill however comes back later in that game but she has changed, she is different, she is no longer the same, perhaps Chris' mother did die and he was forced to live with his father. In his desperation he tried to remember his mother so badly that his memory of her is fading and has been altered thus Jill is dead, or perhaps after his mother has sole custody over Chris he saw a different side of her and could never look at her the same way.

  • 08.31.2011 11:43 PM PDT

PART II

Claire Redfield is the bleeding heart, she is young and caring and will risk her life over and over if it meant just finding Chris. Yet the first time we see her she is lost in a dangerous city filled with monsters, the only support she has is from Leon as Chris is nowhere to be found. Chris isn't an only child, he does have a sister and he wasn't the only target that was tortured by his manipulative father, she was too. Chris was nowhere to be found in Raccoon City, Claire was left to fend for herself or die, this is him coping with the fact that he could never protect her and never had the courage to stand up, not for himself but for her. Leon instead protected her and Leon saved her. Leon is Chris' deepest desire, perhaps Chris is a closeted homo-blam!- and fear from his father and a more than likely religious background forced him to hide and deny his -blam!-ity. As such Leon is the man he always wants to be, a ladies man who is very suave and cool and has multiple love interests yet never even shares a kiss with any one of them or sleep with any of them. However Chris manages to show up again in Code:Veronica and he manages to save his sister and stand up to his now superpowered father. Not as Leon but as himself. This is the first step towards finding his inner self, he saves his sister and he stands up to his father, yet he still fears hims and he is even more powerful than ever. Claire no longer shows up in subsequent games, as he has fulfilled his role. He managed to stand up to his father and save Claire, he is yet another step forward of finally being free from his past.

Alexia and Alfred represent his greatest fears with his sister. The brother/sister relationship in Code:Veronica is a major theme. On one side we have Chris/Claire, two loving siblings that will do anything to be near each other. On the other we have Alexia/Alfred, one is superior, one is better and one clearly has a future while the other has turned insane and distant yet holds the other sibling as a deity to be worshipped. Alfred is this loser who has nothing short of worship for his sister, to the point where he even dresses as her, this is a broken relationship as Alexia more than likely never cared. This is Chris' greatest fear that one of them will become so great that they will break free from their father's wrath while the other is set to rot and wither and be left behind.

Now on to Barry Burton, Barry is easily the picture perfect father figure of the entire S.T.A.R.S. unit. He has two daughters of his own and is the oldest of the group bar Wesker, he is modest and brave and selfless. Barry is the father Chris always wanted but never had, this is why Barry is not present on Chris' scenario in Resident Evil 1 whereas Wesker was. He could not interact with Barry at all as even in his mind he is just a figment that can never be. Barry's absence in all subsequent games means that he has given up the idea that he will ever get a good father, rather he wants to be a good father himself and thus either no longer needs barry or has completely lost hope.

Next are the undead zombies. Why zombies? Chris as said before probably comes from a religious background and thus believes in God or a God. His belief is that there is an afterlife for everybody, both good and bad, yet the zombies themselves are a clear defiance of such a belief. How can the dead pass on to the next life if they still linger on as such demons? Such a thing questions Chris' belief in God and tests him on his faith on the ultimate level. Will there be a heaven for him and a hell for his father? Yet as the series progressed, Chris became more experienced and his faith held strong, as a final obstacle his mind decides to incorporate an all new enemy, an enemy that does not question his faith but outright insults it. Cue the cult following ganados in Resident Evil 4, Chris still having such low self-esteem and so unsure of himself is unable to confront these God-defying creatures by himself and uses Leon and a crutch to handle these demons. Rather than take a step forward, Chris takes a step back in Resident Evil 4.

And now we come to the end of our journey. Resident Evil 5, where everything will intertwine. In his final step it is do or die, as such Leon is removed from the equation, in order to confront with his inner demons, he must do so himself. Chris however is radically different physically in this game, he is strong in the literal sense and is portrayed as such since he has come so far in his journey, yet even the hardest of shells has a soft inside. He is still unprepared to face his father and must confront and defeat him by the end of the journey or lose everything. Replacing Claire is Sheva, who acts as a mix of his loving mother and adoring sister. In this game Chris must confront the realization that Jill (his mother) is dead to him, that woman he saw as a child who was strong willed and capable of surviving everything cannot be painted in the same manner now that he is in adulthood. Just like his father before him he must confront this feat. Sheva is here to help him cope, to keep him from completely falling off the edge, Sheva is in fact the guru, guiding him for the final stretch and helping him take in everything. Over time Chris confronts both his father and his newly realized mother but fails to beat them both. His father then leaves (forced out by the guru so that he can take them on one at a time) and he confronts his mother. Perhaps she was not the strong willed woman we saw in Re1, perhaps his mother was neglectful and didn't care, or he was disappointed with her and wanted a better mother thus Jill came into play but now he must admit that his mother is not the same. By removing the red object from her chest Jill does not show up anymore until the end as Chris no longer needs her, he finally comes to terms with his mother and can finally lay her to rest.

Now comes the final battle, his mother shows up to give him one final word of advice, how to defeat his father. With renewed hope Chris has finally gained the confidence and self esteem to put himself at the same speed as Wesker, a man who wanted to become God. This is how Chris was able to keep up and fight Wesker the superpowered man. He confronts and finally destroys his father, freeing himself entirely of his past. No longer is Chris chained by his repressed memories and dark past, no longer will he live an unfulfilling life. He has lived through a terrible nightmare and in his right of passage he is finally free.

So now that everything has come to end what happens? Chris wakes up from his vivid hallucination with tears pouring down from his eyes, he thanks the guru but no one is there, there was no guru to begin with. If so who was Sheva? How did he manage to give himself the correct dosage and how did he not die? Perhaps Chris never wakes up, he finally finishes his quest but wakes up violently with his heart pounding, as he desperately tries to crawl his way towards the phone, he punches 911 gagging and trying to find a breath. The operator picks up saying "911 what's your emergency?" but Chris is unable to talk and dies on his apartment floor, the journey into one self is a dangerous one and should not be done alone as such there will always be questions (plotholes) left unanswered and the series has been condemned. Chris has finally achieved peace, no matter how short it all was.

Ah, The Ring. The ending was a bit cheap if you ask me. I mean really, how can someone never sleep? I'd get tired after the first day.

SPOILERS

But seriously, they solved the puzzle and still met up with fate? What was the point of even trying in the first place? I guess that's cue the guy from Robot Chicken in saying "what a twist"
