I know this probably isn't the place to ask this, but the more intelligent people post here so I thought I would get better responses. My friend has a MOD on his Xbox. This MOD lets you burn games onto an extra installed hard drive. You can turn it on and off so it will use the game CD or the hard drive to load games. But, the question is, will the Xbox detect this if he gets Xbox Live? Since you can turn it on or off, I was just curious because he wants to get Xbox Live. Because the Xbox detects any MODs and bans itself from using Xbox Live, I think, at least thats what I heard. And no, it isn't me with a MODed Xbox, I have Xbox Live, as you can see by my gamertag in my sig.

How did you friend even get a modded xbox? It's illegal. Probably his xbox can't even hold xbox live. even if it could, it would probably detect it.

He hasn't got Xbox Live yet because he wants to make sure it will work. I know MODing an Xbox is illegal, that was his choice.

Yes, XBox Live will detect the mod chip and permanently ban him from it. It does some scanning the serial number and stuff. So if he wanted to get on XBL I think he would have to remove the chip or get another XBox.
