Subject: Sergeant Johnson in the last run at the end of 343 guilty spark

I was playing through 343 guilty spark on legendary, and I got to the part where to meet the dozen marines at the surface. Well we started moving, and I noticed there were 3 other yellow dots and machine gun fire in a different place to my marines. I figure that some marines had taken a detour. But then, out of a bush, comes Sergeant Johnson and two other marines. He then said "Glad to have your help Chief" or something like that. This was really surprising, because out of about 8 times I have played through the game, this has never happened. This only happened on the first time I played through on legendary.

I know about the whole random Sergeant Johnson appearances, but this takes the biscuit. I think Bungie added this special appearance in for legendary, to explain how he escaped. But has anyone had anything similar happen?

The marines are random faces. Sometimes one of them has the face of Sgt. Stacker or Sgt. Johnson. It's the same on every level you meet Marines on.

It is indeed random, and Sergeant Johnson didn't escape like that. That end of the story can be found in Halo: First Strike.

i think it was a glitch from the level Halo, when Johnson appears and says something similiar to that.. and no, its not a special think put on in lengendary..

If I had a Rocket Launcher...

Shut up and get behind me... Sir!

The cable. I'm going to cut it.

Awesomeness would ensue.

And in even more depth in the Graphic Novel.

Yes I thought it might have been random, but you'd think Bungie would have left Sergeant Johnson out of the possible selection of marines that you meet. There's also the fact that I did not see him in the initial group and that he only appeared halfway through the final run and greeted me. Also you'll notice that there are no officers in the group, and only normal marines. Therefore he cannot be part of the random selection as there has to be an officer for him to appear.

The UNSEEN bounty hunter!!!

I had the same thing happen to me on legendary but the marines following Johnson were crewmen? It was strange. I dont know if that was a fluke or what it was but it was awesome

Thanatos - 'His escape...'

How did he escape in that format ?

For us game-only people, his last moments were hugging an Elite as they admitted the end of their existence.

Usually, srg Johnson is there, other times, srg. Stacker. Keep in mind that Johnson, oddly in the final run wont talk to you, yet he will talk to the other marines.
