Calm down, I already said that about 10 min. ago in another one of your posts. Say your favorite or don't say anything at all unless it has some worth.

Who uses a mac?

  • 06.16.2004 7:14 AM PDT

PC. No fanboyism at all. The PC is best for many reasons:

* It can emulate other platforms, so now Marathon is playable on it.
* It's an open platform, so anyone can develop for it for a lot less than a closed platform.
* It's versatile, so you can use it for other stuff.
* Upgrades - your PC can be upgraded to allow you to play even more advanced games.

But having said that, consoles do have advantages. You don't have to worry about the specs, and Xbox Live is infinitely better than any PC offering.

Who uses a mac?
My rather silly mates thinks that they're better than PCs. In some ways they are, and for him it's a logical choice as he isn't much of a gamer. But don't forget that Bungie started out developing for the Mac.

goweb said it, but he forgot to mention these things:

- Graphics will always be better on PC (see Unreal III, Doom III
- Yes, Doom III looks better on PC
- You don't have to pay extra for online multiplayer
- You can use it for programming, modelling, skinning, chatting, web design, etc.
- You can bring back memories using ROMs (of games you have, of course)
- The list is infinite

Please point out what you think is so good about Live? The voice chat? The friends? PC has all of these things - TeamSpeak, Ventrilo, GameSpy Arcade, XFire (don't download, it's spyware), and Steam are examples...

I mentioned emulation.

Live is virtually lag-free, has a single identity for every game, and is generally better than any PC offering. It also has a consistent online experience in every game - voice chat, quickmatch, OptiMatchâ„¢ - it really kicks arse.

You can get all those things on PC, and I rarely ever have lag in any online game on PC. Except Halo, its net code is s***. Also, I don't want a single identity for every game, and if I did it would be a simple matter of using the same alias in every multiplayer game I have.

Also, take into consideration that 3rd party software for the PC allows you to have voice chat while you're doing anything else. My clan uses Ventrilo. And being what some console people would call a "pro" gamer (which is a real stretch of the imagination), I love all the customization available by modifying the very game files that make the thing work - which is impossible for any of the games in Live's small library.

But, of course, the Live system also prevents hacks.

I have a PS2 and it sucks. It's noise and slow and it can't even run Halo. The only reason that i keep it is because i've cleared Vice city 96% and Vice city is best on PS2...
MAC has a better operative system and it has fewer bugs...

MAC has a better operative system and it has fewer bugs...
That's because it doesn't have to cope with a wide variety of hardware. The Mac is also a semi-open platform - anyone can develop software for it but not hardware. And who wants a mouse with only one button ;-)

I second that mouse movement. Plus, I like to multi-task. But I think the best game ever, is Super Mario World, for SNES. It kicks alot of ass. I still play it. I think I'll break the ol' SNES out, and play some Super Mario World, and some MK3.

You all have strong points. I said PS2 because of price and game variety. Plus, the features it includes fits my life better than other consoles. My friends all have PS2 also so I can play online with them. A little known fact is that PS2 is actually modable when hooked up to a computer. It does have it's downsides too like less controller ports (though hardware fixes most problems). PC's and Macs have their strenghts and weaknesses and I think Macs are underated. Mostly, they are not recognized because the hardware availability is alot less than PC (which is basicly a monopoly). I think that all systems have their advantages but I think that Gamecube is still the worst, even with the Mario and smash bro line. It's a hard decsion to make. Also you have to agree that X-Box will most likely dominate the poll because this website almost entirely revolves around a game that is X-Box only. And BTW, Macs can uses multi button mouses. I've got one with 6.
