Subject: An Idea on how to reduce spam/locked threads.

Well, I just noticed about half the threads on the Community page are locked, and I got to thinking. What if when you posted something in a forum you had to add what it's directly related to (i.e. Halo 3, Bungie.net, Screenshots, Off Topic). If it wasn't directly related to that forum, you wouldn't be able to post it, and you wouldn't be able to create a thread topic for a set amount of time. To imply directly what the thread would be related to, there could be checkboxes at the bottom of the "Create New Topic" page. They would be for different topics and a user would only be able to check one of those boxes. The user must check one of the boxes to post the topic. If the thread wasn't related to that forum, then the user would be banned for a set amount of time.

Another Idea:

Have a single "Create New Topic" page, and the checkboxes would determine which thread it goes in. Example: User checks box for Halo 3 related topics. The topic is posted in the Halo 3 Forum.

I thought these were decent ideas.

I know, but we have the problem where most people don't read the rules, much less learn them. This could drastically reduce spam for the time being.

But they won't learn.

People have to learn to pay attention.

Butane: James!

People have to learn to get scruples, yet they never do...

Personally, like the others, I'm not sure this idea would work, but I can admit I can see where there's a chance it would.

I think that this might help. It would make people realize if they're in the wrong place. Now, this is no guarantee that they still won't post, but I think it would reduce misplaced threads.

Loose talk is noose talk.

People never learn, though if it were my choice, every forum would have a dictionairy, and if a word you posted was not included in the Bungie dictionairy, you wouldn't be able to post it. Just like in China.

So now I'm a beta tester. Let's see where this goes.

The vast majority of people only learn lessons the hard way. I say teach them that hard lesson.

Well, the idea I have could be a way to teach them that lesson, it would probably take a little bit of testing to get working right though.
