Yeah, as long as you bought the game, you're cool. However, people that both download the game for free and THEN come to the developer's site asking for help....my god that is stupid. It's like robbing a bank and then going up to the police station waving the bag of money around...

Copying Halo doesn't work, it'll know. You'll only be allowed to play online with people who also have illegal versions.

And yes I have a legal version, 3 in fact and I bought one for my g/f. I know about the illegal-Halo not working thing because I have a stupid friend who tried to copy it.

I have used Alchohol to emulate mine... does that make me cheap too? I bought Alchohol when I was on my third copy of Halo that I had to purchase due to the others getting damaged (build up of general scratches).

Even after emulating my copy of Halo, I still went out and bought yet another copy so that anyone else could play on my second machine... Cheap my arse!

Can't see the problem. I use cd images whenever I can. However I also OWN and PAID FOR, the cds. It means I am not looking for the cds to play the games and I can keep the cds safe. You can also mount and unmount images on the fly as required. All in all its a good way to work.!!

Amen, Brother! I use Daemon Tools to emulate mine. Bought the game fair and square, I play on my laptop and I don't want to carry the CD everywhere I go. Assuming the poster of the original topic has his own legal copy then there is nothing wrong with what he wants to do. Why is everyone so quick to jump on him. If he has an illegal copy then he will probably have trouble playing online anyway do to memory key issues. Anyway, I'll actually answer the dude's question.

First off I'm not sure if I'd use Nero (I have it and haven't tried it with this) because I'm not sure if it copies copywright information. I use CD Clone which will copy the copywright information and everything.

CD Clone Download here

And like I said, I use Daemon Tools as my CD drive emulator:

Daemon Tools downloard

This will give you a little sys tray icon that lets you make up to like 5 or 6 emulated drives and then you click on that drive and tell it to mount image. You search for the .ccd (if you used cd clone) or the .cue (which most anything will make) or I think you can even mount a .bin, and you will then have mounted the image on that drive.

I use this with all my games as to avoid carrying around a CD case with my laptap everywhere I go.

As a disclaimer, DO NOT use this stuff to do illegal mess. Not cool. And you will probably run into trouble with it one way or another. If you do have a legal copy of Halo this should work fine. If you don't then delete what you got and go to Wally World (Wal-Mart for those not from the South) and buy yourself your very own copy of Halo for $19.95. It will be the best investment of you life.

Hope this helps.

it is possible to copy halo and use it on another machine

i should know, i have a couple copies of my own. but they are still in my drawer, and the only thing i have ever used them for is to play on two computers over lan in my own home with my computers with my brother. is that bad?

Officially, yes.

You can't use the same disk twice to play against someone over lan... It recognises the CD key is the same on both comps... Two people with the same CD key can't join the same server...
