You don't need Live to play a System Link game.

but ull need a hub and couple of crossover cables, and some copies of halo, ,...if you dont know what a crossover cable is then ur reallly in trouble.... oh wait no, if you connect to hub then the normal cable will work,... crossover is only when direct linking 2 systems....

Go to your local computer store and tell them that you need the cheapest hub or switch with at least 4 ports they have, and you also need 4 cat5 cables (get long ones it makes things easier) ... then you go home and plug in the hub to an outlet plug the cables into your x-box and into the hub and you're set.

The switch may be better, as it gives each Xbox the maximum bandwidth available, while the hub shares it between them. Also, the normal cables are patch cables.

Xbox needs an online tutorial about this. Maybe I will make one and post it on my site.

***Don't forget to have extra power extension chords and splitters on hand!!!!***

I wish I had a nickel for everytime we've forgotten that one . . . .

Once in a hotel we had to use the lamp which had a poweroutlet on its base to act as an extension cable ouot into the hallway for the hub.

Lan with four xbox's requires::
•4 TV's.
•4 xboxs.
•1 Hub.
•4 "Cat. 5" ethernet cables.
•9 power outlets (4 for the tvs, 4 for xboxs, and 1 for the hub.)
•extension chords to get power to everything, as well as splitters to help.
•1 Controller per Friend.
Enough friends to keep it fun. B/n 4-16 for four xbox's.

little tv's work great for 1 to 2 people to sit on. Often the resolution can make it just as fun as the bigger tv's.

Enjoy!
