The only thing that makes Elites slightly difficult is their shield, if brutes don't have a shield how will they be scary at long range,
Brutes need more protection

First Strike comments on theyre armor and thick skin. They have strong metal armor which can take damage, and then they have thick leathery skin. Much like an elephants. In effect, they are as tough as MC and Elites without the energy shield.

No they don't. They have a big gun and they're tough as hell. I don't think that they have one specific weak spot like the Hunters in Halo 1, either.

thats the whole thing about the brutes, there still badass without the energy sheilds, i dont think that they use conventional covenant technology IE: the energy sheild, there gun looks more primitive and less sleek, i think its their weapon for their culture, they seem seperate from the covenant but they are still allied with them, besides i dont think youll be encountering them from long range, they kinda just droped on the MC in the 2003 E3 video

they are supposed to have (according to the books) muscles that rip even a hunter to shreads in combat. yes, they do look more primitive and covenant only give energy shields to the higher covenant (e.g elites and maybe prophets-although they are not warriors) because it is forerunner technology and you probably know how they worship the forerunner and their artifacts. The prophets would proably give it to them but elites would obviously protest bigtime as they see brutes lower than them and hate them. anyways i don't thihnk they have a weak spot other than their heads which is not armored so well. they don't seem to be cleverer than elites and will probably charge in your face rather than take cover. their slug throwers has a ordinary blade undrer them which also makes them seem less technological compared to the elites as everything they have is some sort of plasma something, they even have a plasma version of fibre wire (in the books, the flood i think)

maybe they do not really see forerunner as high as the other covenant species do or something, i dunno

nah, they seem tough enough without an energy shield. it'd be sweet if like in the difficulty harder than legendary they gave brutes a shield though.
